Red Bull Joyride Slopestyle in Photos
Aug 20, 2012 at 0:46
Yannik Granieri. Heading up for one last practice run.
Messere and Semenuk.
With the competition just minutes away the vibe was all business.
Even Pilgrim wasn't smiling.
"Hey Dad, can I borrow a hundred K to go shoot this years' Slopestyle?...Sure son, wallet's on the kitchen table." Can't tell you how many kids had one of these propped on their shoulders.
Geoff Gullevich consoling Casey Groves after hearing about probably the worst news you could hear. Our hearts are all with you and your family Casey...keep on given'r bro.
With just minutes to go...last second entry Tyler McCaul had to frantically fix a flat before being first one down the course. I'd be sweating too.
That didn't stop him from stomping a huge tailwhip to open the Slopestyle.
I love how the sign is made with the packaging from a two-four of beer.
Brett Rheeder...this guy got really good, really fast.
Yannik Granieri...yea it's out of focus, but who gives a shit.
Gully...looking solid all the way down...
...but just missing out on placing top six.
Anthony Messere...you front-flipping, crazy-ass mo' fo'.
Semenuk's style starts where other's stops.
Tyler McCaul...looking pretty relaxed for riding off the couch.
The wind was playing havoc on a lot of riders. Tippie...feeling their pain.
The crowds were feeling their pain too...
The photogs were just hoping someone makes it all the way down the course.
Messere...giving the people what they needed, even after crashing higher up on this run. That's Pro.
Casey Groves...sixth place. Under the circumstances he was riding with, he takes the cake as most inspirational rider.
Martin Soderstrom...solid all the way through...
...until this last ditch double whip attempt off the shack.
Probably cost him the win.
Holding it down for the win.
Soderstrom...stoked with second.
Cam is back!...Third place.
That's all folks!...
Time to party.
And if you missed Pinkbike's video from the event...

Who cares about who got 1st and 2nd when Cam McCaul got 3rd!
(Aug 21, 2012 at 1:36)
Yeah I'm so happy for Cam !
(Aug 21, 2012 at 9:15)
and he had a chance at first! who knows what he would have pulled out of the bag on the bottom if he had kept his run going after the double whip!
(Aug 21, 2012 at 9:51)
He's back that's for sure!
(Aug 21, 2012 at 11:50)
Let's be honest, have any of you heard of Thomas Genon? I haven't untill now.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 12:25)
I saw him at bearclaw so he wasn't just this random guy lol
(Aug 21, 2012 at 12:57)
Yeah, Thomas absolutely bombed himself on the top of the podium from out of nowhere. BUT, Cam is a legend, he's in this sport for something like 8-9 years or so? Let's be honest, age is a major factor in this sport, especially when almost all of his competition is much younger than him. Also he's been out for a while now with an injury, and this is a blistering comeback from him!
(Aug 21, 2012 at 20:18)
norco, you must be new to mountain biking? btw, thomas is like semenuk for europeans
(Aug 22, 2012 at 15:03)
personally ive always been following fmb and iv never heard of him until 26trix this year
(Aug 21, 2012 at 0:14)
Sweet writeup/photos. Pinkbike killed it with coverage of Crankworx, video is top notch!
(Aug 21, 2012 at 0:39)
Probably one of the most epic Crankworx to date, from the 60 footer to the unpredictable top 3 winners, Amazing.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 10:19)
I think that crankworx was epic and joyride course was amazing but i was actually a little disappointed with the contest itself a lot of people crashed out and i wish i could of saw more full runs.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 12:42)
They really need to stop holding comps in the wind. I know it's not a possibility most of the time, but a lot of the events this year haven't been 100% due to wind.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 1:31)
Great coverage of Joyride, was stoked I could watch it live.... Results were great, am sure none of us would have predicted the places in the end.... A ripping great course....
(Aug 21, 2012 at 0:27)
haha genon was SOOOO close to crashing that 360 off the cabin. he must be pretty stoked that he held on!
(Aug 21, 2012 at 2:12)
He completely destroyed his wheel when he landed. At the end of the vid you see him roll down with a taco'd wheel and the tyre is rolling off.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 8:30)
I was there, when he landed his tire exploded and it sounded like someone fired a gun! Soooo crazy!
(Aug 21, 2012 at 0:48)
Martin Whip-o-matic is boss.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 21:30)
Not trying to steal from this bad ass post but if anybody is looking for more Crankworx photos to fill in some blanks.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 8:12)
Ug. The let down of no more streaming Crankworks... Now I will have to work instead of pretend to be clicking away. Great pics, btw!
(Aug 21, 2012 at 0:53)
cant believe so many riders crashed in one event, always so fun being there watching everything go down in person
(Aug 21, 2012 at 16:47)
Any1 saw Filipe Perestrelo (supermarket bike rider) at Whistler?
(Aug 21, 2012 at 0:16)
some rad dudes in this sport...
(Aug 22, 2012 at 1:46)
i had an awesome view, genon had such an awesome run and everyone was so pumped! couldn't help to cheer hard this year!
(Aug 21, 2012 at 10:34)
Margus - always consistent with 100% banger shots.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 13:54)
Does anyone know why Lacondeguy didn't compete in the finals? I can't find the answer anywhere, even his own fan page.
(Aug 22, 2012 at 9:09)
He crashed badly in practice, hitting his head, and was taken to the hospital.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 2:09)
People saying martin is a unlikely winner? how?
(Aug 22, 2012 at 3:40)
madness, madness, madness. I love it.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 1:36)
What happen with Graves? what was the bad news?
(Aug 21, 2012 at 2:08)
His cousin passed away the night before.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 2:50)
ok wow. thats sad to hear
good to see he kept his head up high and two feet on the ground.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 8:13)
Actually his feet were no where near the ground...
(Aug 21, 2012 at 8:43)
Groves... Not Graves.
(Aug 21, 2012 at 18:11)

(Aug 21, 2012 at 19:36)
