Training for the Megavalanche

I want to find out what ik takes to ride the Megavalanche.

I started mountain biking just at the beginning of this year. So far I have been riding cross country type man made trails – there aren’t any real mountains in the Netherlands. But during one of my latest Youtube sessions I stumbled across a video of the Megavalanche, and the first thing I thought was: I want to ride that.

I’m not a skilled mountain biker nor a true dare devil, but I do happen to be a journalist. That’s why I decided to make a hobby project out of my training. On my blog http://ridingthemega.wordpress.com/ I will publish interviews with riders, coaches and bike manufacturers and updates on my training. All aimed at answering one question: what does it take to ride (a race like) the Megavalanche?

I’ll divide all posts in three categories:
– getting fit (which I’m not)
– getting skilled (which I’m also not)
– and gaining technical knowledge of my bike.

This way the blog will hopefully also be interesting for i.e. already skilled riders who just want to get in shape. Please comment on posts if you have any remarks or tips because I can use all the help I can get.

Hope to welcome you soon!
