Matanzas is a small town, located in the commune of Navidad, about three hours from Santiago. This place is known worldwide for having unbeatable wind conditions for nautical sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Some time ago, the MTB has been taking some spaces with new places to practice, such as the Bike Park of the Hotel Olas de Matanzas, El Maitén Park and other sectors of the region. The town hosted events like the Trail Mach Hotel Surazo and for two times it was the final destination of the Santa Cruz Andes Pacifico Montenbaik Enduro – all that have confirmed the tremendous potential of the area for enduro, together with all the daily work that local and native riders do to boost the MTB.
On this second EWS Qualifier in Chile, we had everything. We started with a clear and sunny Saturday, however, the wet and muddy tracks by the rains of past weeks increased technical difficulty and got especially physical challenging since the ridding was heavy. With the passing of the hours, the good weather allowed the improvement of the tracks for the Sunday race.
At 9:00a.m., the almost 400 riders got ready to go out and roll the six special stages for Enduro 1, and five for Enduro 2, accompanied by a sunny day, they started the penultimate race of the National Championship Montenbaik Enduro Series.
Check the details next in the photo-report of the race, and we'll see you in November for Ninhue: the seventh and last race of the Montenbaik Enduro Series 2017 and EWS Qualifier.
