With three national bike parks and three regional trail centres, which combined boast over 150km of expertly sculpted XC and DH trails, all within 90 mins drive of each other, could Northern Ireland be the ultimate mountain bike road trip destination in the UK? We reckon it just might be...

This year the team at MountainBikeNI.com, the driving force behind Northern Ireland’s dramatic rise to MTB fame, have partnered up with Tourism Ireland and P&O Ferries to offer UK riders a 30-Hour Return ferry travel deal for 1 car and 3 passengers from Cairnryan (Scotland) to Larne (Northern Ireland) for just £145, which is less than £50 per person.

Check out MountainBikeNI.com/Mountain-Bike-30 to find out why now is the Time to Ride Northern Ireland.

Sad to see so many negative comments on here after so many years of no mtb centres. I think the trails are great at home. I know they are not the hardest tracks but they suit riders of all abilities. They are what you make of them. Cruise them or blast them.

Folks who are pissed cuz they don't have Whistler on their doorstep. NI's awesome folks. Book your trips and get stuck in!

It'll be interesting to see what comes of this new one they are going to build at Magheramorne Quarry (where they film all the scenes at Castle Black & The Wall for all you Game of Thrones fans). Just heard on the news this morning that it has finally been given planning permission.

I'm sure Ireland is full of good trails. None of them were in that video though, plenty utterly dull looking green and blue trail centre lines though.

lol, they even worse the red/black xc's are only about a blue grade in other places.. dh1 would be a blue and dh2 a red in say revolution ratings.... We do have some of the best off piste local trails going with ladders, road gaps etc..

I had to laugh at them trying to sex it up a bit with enduro style riders with their googles and such. Totally not the trails that this type of rider is seeking. The video is quite confused.

Our best trails are the local / hidden ones! Search Bins at Rostrevor on youtube to see what i mean..

Our Tollymore mtb gotta be the best trails out there

A class place, class people, class craic! Constantly evolving, expanding and growing. Home is the spot! Don't take anything for granted. Plus there are so many riding spots off the trail centres. Go!

Awesome Video, awesome trails! I love going up to the north all the time. They planned those trails so well.

looks like a great family holiday venue, if the ferry deal was from wales and was a week, not 30 hours, then the target audience would be attracted to go. I'd take my kids there for a week for sure.

Yeah, Northern Ireland tends to put the Republic of Ireland to shame for trail centres. Unfortunately down south they gave the responsibility of building trail centres to a semi-state logging company called Coillte and guess what? Coillte just kept on logging

Super smooth man made trails, Yes, I'll go and look out my 6 inch travel enduro tank and goggles.

@simooo do yourself a favour and don't bother. From someone who lives 5 minutes from tardree I wouldn't waste the diesel for the drive. Mucky shithole with no runs lasting longer than 30 seconds. Head on to cavey

75% of the trails at Tardree are pretty crap... but there has been plenty of building going on out there recently mate, on a rare dry evening there are a couple of runs you shouldn't just write off as there're not the worst especially if you're 5 mins away!

all these scots, roses, n sheepshaggers are positively gushing to get over here to tardree to hit robs jumps and you are just driving them away!!! for real tho, on a dry week, tardree is lethal for a rip around after work...its not exactly all day epic material like tolly or donard. When its wet its fucking Chernobyl 2.0.........

plus there is a ton of new stuff latley!

@adamxrt: was up there at the weekend after a pretty dry week (for northern Ireland), and the place is still a right bog. lot of ones still ride scramblers through it and tear up the tracks until your just riding in one long rut. its frustrating because the pace has potential.

last time I was there this was what I saw i.imgur.com/Iga0M2z.jpg

Didn't fancy going head first into that lot, then head first into the grass Smile

@cmccormick943: You have to give tardree more than a week my friend! it needs about 2-3 weeks of dry weather!! lol!! its the gloopiest gloop soil ive ever encountered! Tonne sof new trails and jumps if you know where to look. Avoid when wet, ride when dry! (y)

@simooo: that was only built end of last year when the rains came. hit it fine this weekend and next jump as its drying nice.

@bat-fastard: bigger balls than me! lol that last one looks sketchy as fook.

@simooo: yip, needs finishing, we got so far with that trail as the rain this winter was unreal, it was bone dry up there the winter before..

Nice video. I've ridden at Castlewellan and really enjoyed it. Would be great to make a weekend of it and get over to Rostrevor.
