British Columbia is a province covering over 952,263 square kilometers. It is nearly four times the size of Great Britain, two-and-a-half times larger than Japan, in fact larger than all but 30 nations in the world. Most amazing is that roughly 94% of it is public land waiting to be explored by two wheels.

The province is divided into six tourism regions, each with its own distinct characteristics. By road tripping to these regions and exploring those characteristics we hope to showcase the diverse nature of mountain biking throughout BC.

In Episode 3, we travel through the Vancouver Coastal Mountain Region. This area includes North Vancouver and it’s surrounding hinterland, the Fraser Valley, the Sunshine Coast, and the famous Sea to Sky corridor of Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. The history of mountain biking has deep roots here, from North Shore ladder bridges to pioneering bike parks, and athletes that have helped propel mountain biking to mainstream acceptance. The area is rich with cohesive bike clubs and trail builders with amazing passion, all progressing the sport of mountain biking and making it that much better for all of our enjoyment.

Rocky Mountain Athletes Geoff Gulevich, Wade Simmons, Thomas Vanderham, Andreas Hestler, and Brett Tippie dig into some of the well known trail networks, but also take time to highlight some of the lesser known trails along the way.

While we all love to travel far and wide, most of us spend the majority of our time closer to home. We hope these edits will inspire both local exploration and big plans for epic road trips abroad—happy riding in 2015!

Episode 1 The Kootenays and Episode 2 Vancouver Island can be seen here. New episodes of the remaining regions are coming soon.

Since it didn't mention it in the video, I guess I will. Support the local trail associations because they are the ones that are working hard to make trails better. Fraser Valley (FVMBA), North Shore (NSMBA), Squamish (SORCA), Whistler (WORCA), Pemberton (PVTA). A big question while I'm out building and working on trails is "You are working for the municipality right?" The answer is No, the trail associations are the ones that put back into the infrastructure. If you ride a $8000 carbon bike, no reason why you can't afford memberships.

Frown I am sitting at work on a Sunday, and the nicest weather in weeks looking, out the window at the north shore. As if that wasn't bad enough, you had to post this and rub salt in the wounds.

If I ever have to move back to the east coast, I might die. Hopefully you aren't also stuck working OT on your weekend. This is what Cypress Mountain looks like this winter here. Good for us mountain bikers Smile

Brett and Wade should be hired ambassadors for BC if they're not already.

Just rode Fromme today, beautiful and different from Bellingham riding. Will be back again. Been to Seymour, Cypress is next. Much respect for Shore riding; how they were airing out Ladies is crazy to me.

Thank you for reinforcing the realization of how inferior my local trails are. It is time to begin researching how to relocate my family to B.C.
  • 4 0
Yep. Just confirmed my suspicions that all people must do in BC is ride bikes or make trails. HEAVEN

  • 1 0
 Thank you very much, mulchee.
  • 1 0
why would you possibly care? Riding a certain size wheel make you a better rider? Have more fun?
  • 1 0
Why, jaydawg? Is it wrong to ask? Did it bother you that much, so much, that you started crying over my question? I never said wheel size makes anybody a better rider or one is more fun than the other. I'm just curious. Maybe you should get rid of those tighty whities and start wearing something a little loose so you're not too uptight. Relax, eh
