High Above Announces All-New Lightweight Nova Hip Pack
the average consumer is more focused superficially on what the bag & compartments look like as opposed the attachment / suspension (which is definately more functionally important)
I've noticed this with backpacks as well. A plethora of bling pictures from the back and side.....because how fasionable it looks apparently is what really matters.

As an even older rider I say any time is a great time to be a bike rider... but it is getting better all the time.
I'm just greatful that I didn't have the disposable income at the time to waste on early adaption.

Opinion: I Love Internal Cable Routing, There I Said It
It's not subject matter worthy of a thesis, so only got so far.
There, I said it.

Pets of Pinkbike - Pond Beaver 2021
It's not the best to suggest going all-in on a pet to someone who's never actually cared for an animal.
Depending on your level of commitment:
For dogs, think of it as having a toddler that can be left alone at home for a few hours and then scale it back to Gold Fish level care.
....also, cats can turn into a multi-generational pet. So think about your future as well when the kids eventually head off into the adult world.

Pets of Pinkbike - Pond Beaver 2021
As a dog owner, at first I was thinking that a cat would be the most sensible, lowest maintenance pet......but now I'm thinking reptile.

Mountain Lion Shot & Killed After Stalking Family on California Trail
I'm not a wildlife biologist ..but was going to say the same.
Ambush predators rely on stealth....this guy was having some problems if he was mingling w. humans like that. & If it did it once, it will probably do it again. It's easy to see why they unfortunately had to destroy the animal.
