Orange Reveals a Gearbox Belt Driven eMTB Using the Intradrive Motor - Eurobike 2022
@hamncheez: I have a zerode G2 with a home built motor for pedal assist and Alfine gearbox. Well, I did, until I blew the Alfine to bits. They're not designed for the extra torque. It's a single speed now and is heaps of fun as a self shutting DH bike. I'm currently working on a project to put a motor on a pinion gearbox. In theory it will work.

Should the Derailleur Die? Zerode's Gearbox-Equipped Taniwha - Review
@NickB01: Mate i owned 2 capras. Both had multiple cracks within 3 months. They weighed about 34lbs once all the weak flimsy parts failed and had to be replaced (a couple of weeks). They are good in a straight line downhill but the taniwha descends and corners significantly better, and so far has outlasted them with ease. And I probably do an average 10,000m vertical descending a week in my job so i know what works and what doesnt. I doubt Mike did ride his demo taniwha much. If he couldnt figure out how to shift it while pedalling up and down - something that takes at least a month to become natural at - that's a give away. And it's been winter up there.

Should the Derailleur Die? Zerode's Gearbox-Equipped Taniwha - Review
Yeah CDN pricing is up there. Its much better value down here, and comparable to a lot of other top shelf bikes from the big brands. Maybe you guys are getting stung due to low volumes, shipping, taxes etc? Zerode is a tiny company so economies of scale just dont exist.

Should the Derailleur Die? Zerode's Gearbox-Equipped Taniwha - Review
@mikelevy: I must admit when you wrote in the review that the taniwha didn't jump well that i wondered if you'd actually ridden it much, or if your suspension setup was off. It jumps bloody well. Also changing gears is easy, climbing or descending. You can change while pedalling no worries once youve gotten used to it. I've done plenty of big vert days on mine and its about as much of a pig climbing as any other bike that you'd actually want to ride down a hill. Compare it to a Capra or Nomad with DH tyres, weight and climbing ability are pretty similar but the Taniwha will outlast, out corner and out descend them both. Did you actually set this bike up properly and ride it a lot? Because it doesnt sound like it. Not one mention of the pinion POE issue either, how could you have not noticed that?

A Walmart Bike vs Whistler Bike Park
Agreed. The social justice warrior trolling is tiresome.

A Walmart Bike vs Whistler Bike Park
None of those big euro and north american bike parks are that hardcore. Designed mostly for intermediate riders (and rightly so since that's where the $$$ is). Whistler park especially is only really good for jumps, the technical riding is boring as.

The Outlier - The Full Story of the Wild Insolent DH Bike
Belt drives have pros and cons, especially on suspension bikes where you need to run an tensioner. Nicoli do one on a gearbox bike if you're into that kind of thing. A number of gearbox bike builders have tested them and decided a regular chain was more practical.

The Outlier - The Full Story of the Wild Insolent DH Bike
This is addressed in the article, the pivot is around the front sprocket. Not ideal for anti squat, but he mentions prioritising active suspension over pedaling which is fair enough on a DH bike. No need for a chain guide or tensioner and no dropped chain (belt) ever. It's pretty cool really.

Just like any regular fork/shock if you don't service it. Sure.

Production Privée's Adjustable Sweep Grips and Cockpit - Review
Renthal bars are OK but the stems are a let down. Both are overpriced. In fact I'd happily sell you mine cheap (if you weren't on the other side of the planet).
