Well, this is a good step in the right direction..but $130K..to be split..over 4 races?? Some don't remember when Brain Patterson won AA Pro & Pro Cruiser at the BMX Murray World Cup way the heck back in like 1983 and won $25k in a day. And I thinks mtb is a wee bit bigger than bmx was in it's heyday..

New Pumptrack at Seatac BMX in Burien is now OPEN Also Grindline is building what looks to be a SICK new one on Vashon Island. And I hear a new pumper at Collenade under I5 is coming up.

and STILL no talk or reports on the LED lockout Loic is running, nor the fact that there are no races for 9 MONTHS for the stars of this awesome sport. C'mon man..

i cant believe no one is asking or talking about the LED Lockout Loic was using to (help him) win..? he definitely had an advantage as he was the only one to stay smooth and low and not haver to boost to clear the last jumps.

bringing an extra Slalom bike which is way way different than the DH rig they are specializing in.. hoping the mtn or UCI (lol) makes a good track..swapping between the bike during the week..i'd rather Minnar/Lioc etc did what we want them to do, RIP ON DH!! (short track and XC, they ride the same bike).. I'd much rather DH pulled the heck AWAY from these UCI suits and had a proper series! Why do we as fans (and the riders and industry) wait, globe trot, to race like 8 times a year..THIS IS A JOKE! Eli Tomac and AP7 line up like 25 times thru the year..And so does Roglic and Sagan (well these roadies race on average 70 days PER YEAR!) DH Pros should be racing 15-20 events..That is the answer. Give the fans and the bike industry/venues what they ask for. A WC DH series that does not have a 7 month "break"..!

I worked at Raleigh (Derby Cycle) back in 93-96 and then again in 98-02 when they had bought Diamondback..in Kent WA. We had a factory that bonded (glued) the frames together and a warehouse/paint/assembly all in house. Appx 150 employees worked there building appx 400/500 bikes per day. We had a model shop that all the prototype bikes or next years samples would be stored, as well as some classic memorabilia. We had one of these Tomacnesium's Ti/Carbon/Tioga bikes all built up and it was I believe the one Jonny T raced to win the Grundig World Cup finals with, hanging in this shop, still with # plate on a the euro dirt. And unfortunately, once we closed the factory, some disgruntled workers who still had keys to the shop took this bike (as well as a bunch of stuff like tools/spoke cutter/threader etc..I remember being bummed as that bike belonged in a museum, and it's great to see one of these in pristine condition and in all it's glory. Jonny T and now his son Eli are just so so amazing!

Bottom line, mens Elite DH is one if not the toughest sport in ALL of cycling. Gwin is getting older, and the comp and the whole sport has stepped up big time..and injuries don't forgive. On the body nor the head. Living in Cali and riding the same dry tracks for training ain't gonna cut it, whether he's on Kenda, Maxxis, Onza Intense YT etc. He needs to pack up come March and move to Europe and get laps upon laps in the mud, gnar, steep and different terrain they have at their disposal..IMO.

tannus inserts, 2.3 -2.6 Maxxis whatevers, 18-24 psi, no matter your weight, where you live, your "pace", or your skills.. good to go. all you need to know.
