PRESS RELEASE: 2023 Schwalbe North American Enduro Cup

Registration opens for the 2023 Schwalbe North American Enduro Cup on February 1, 2023 at 12:00 noon PST! Head over to www.naenduro.com and get yourself registered!

The 2023 Schwalbe NAEC is back for its seventh running at Silver Mountain Bike Park in Kellogg, Idaho, on June 17-18, 2023. The Schwalbe NAEC is a stand-alone, two day race with a $12,000 pro purse with equal payouts. As we've done every year, there will be fresh, raw track, and new trails that are exclusive to this race and are outside the normal bike park boundaries. The 2022 raw tracks challenged everyone, and the new course for 2023 has been in the works for months. The 2022 race saw the fastest pro time last year at over 42 minutes of timed racing, and our famous Queen Stage had a fastest time of 15:54. The 2023 Schwalbe NAEC will deliver this same caliber of racing for everyone, with the added bonus of a legit power stage for the ebike categories. With Silver Mountain's 3,400' (1040m) of vertical on tap, it's easy to see why the Schwalbe NAEC keeps growing and delivering year after year.

(Additional lift ticket for Friday practice can be purchased for $35)

2023 Race Schedule:
June 15 - Course Release
June 16 - Practice Day
June 17-18 - Race Days

We will be using the same live timing system as 2022 from our friends at Zone4.ca. You will be able to see your favorite riders' and your friends' times for each stage throughout the day on our website. We'll also be utilizing start times for racers and cut-off times for some stages. While we still use the chairlifts, in addition to ample amounts of pedaling for Expert and Pros, we've made more adjustments to help the race flow better. We keep taking what we learned from the previous years to provide an improved experience for everyone.

I'm still not seeing my preferred race class: men over 60 who are obese. As one who has also lost cajones, I'd like ride around line options too.

Unpopular opinion, it'd be a lot cooler if they did equal payout based on size of field. More women, more money to women. More men, more money to the men. Make it proportional to the competitiveness.

Dangle a big (equal) prize and you will (eventually) get fiercer competition.

@BigHerm: Imo 2 different ways to go about the same idea. The 1st idea though would mean it'd take a lot longer for traction to gain on those sides. Start off with equal pots and as the race grows in size make the pots competitive to the participation. Would make sense eventually.

@BigHerm: So...when does "eventually" run out? I've heard this for literally 20 years. "Equal payout" has not been a driving factor to changing the size of the women's field (at all).

@JeffreyJim: you seem concerned with the size of the field. I'm more interested in the quality of the competition. For example: Nina Hoffman showed up at the US Open because of the huge purse. Offer good money, get good riders.

@BigHerm: no, I'm concerned in fairness of competition relative to payout. This is incredibly easy/simple math. Equality of opportunity is more important than equality of outcome.
