Press Release: Nukeproof

Welcome to the team: Louise Ferguson

Nukeproof are stoked to welcome Louise Ferguson to the team. The timing seems perfect with Louise fresh off winning the second round of the Crankworx Summer Series Downhill on her new Nukeproof Dissent 297 (received just a day before the second stop of the Summer tour). Louise hails from Fort William, Scotland, now living in Queenstown, New Zealand for the past 2 years, she will be racing the Crankworx series and various other races with Nukeproof.

bigquotesWe’ve known or Louise for a while with her backflipping exploits on the Scottish trails, but a meeting with her at the Megavalanche a few years back put her on our radar. When we received a message to say she would like to ride with us it was an easy yes. Her energy on the bike is infectious and inspiring, plus her time in New Zealand has seen her push herself to a new high. Stoked to see her at events like #futureground as well as the races. She’s an awesome attitude and we’re stoked to be supporting her this year along with her other sponsors. Rob Sherratt, Nukeproof Global Marketing Manager

 So good to see more hard shredding woman get sponsored by big brands. Hope this trend continues in 2022 and far beyond!

 @patryka: Nothing wrong with that dude. Carry on.

 @patryka: Because in the world today, recognizing someone else's physical beauty, athletic gifts and good personality means that someone, somewhere will be offended.

Those people are usually referred to as "trolls" for a very good reason. Jealousy manifesting itself as virtue signaling.

Yes, all best for you guys.

 I'm not really sure why saying someone is attractive is offensive. There's a difference between objectifying a person in a manner that is dehumanizing and saying that someone is attractive. Entire industries are built around people paying attention to their looks. From what type of clothes look good on you to what kind of shaving cream you buy. If people didn't care about looks none of that would exist. We need to lighten up a little on this stuff. There's such a thing as a gorgeous woman and a hot looking guy. We're wired to notice these things. It's biological. Can we all calm down with the down votes?

 @fattyheadshok:
Yeah what you say is all well and good but comments about appeal in the looks department are invariably about women riders, which makes it sexist.
I've never seen a similar comment about a male rider - only how well they can ride.

 @rstwosix: O God, not this again. I am old fashion and do not get it. Everything is politics now. Crazy. We need to be walking on tose and always mind our thoughts and what we say because other can say it is sexist. It is this, it is that.
Far left, far right and all this. Why cant we be just honest and good people?
In my opinion "sexy chick" is sexist and I would never write anything like that.
I wrote "she is beautiful woman, beautiful person and great athlete and I love her smile" and this exactly what I think.
And I do not want to talk what far lef think about that. I treat women and actually "PEOPLE" with respect.
And finally when a random guy would write or say that my wife is beautiful I would answer "I know she is but thank you, I will tell her, she will be happy" and that is it.
Moreover, I kind of suspect that Mrs.Louise Ferguson would not mind if somebody say she is beautiful.

All the best for all of you, Wish you happy riding and happy life.

 @rstwosix: No it absolutely does not. @patryka gave a genuine compliment. I asked the misses about his comment and she said it seems genuine. He was not objectifying her by commenting on her body, nor being rude, crude or socially unacceptable. Complimenting someone their smile?! Even English being his second language, he gave a compliment. Your perception of it is your own issue. If there were more lady PB commenters, I would imagine they would have some preferences on a riders appearance and find them attractive or not. Where I am heterosexual, I am always open to talking about what or whom I find attractive in the opposite AND same sex. I think Greg Minnar is a dashingly handsome man. Am I being sexist? It’s in the delivery and the… wait for it…. CONTEXT.

 @patryka:
Yes I agree that Louise is beautiful - but the story is about her joining a new team, not about how good she looks.
It's ok I'm just being petantic.
All the best to you too - happy riding!

 @RBalicious:
wait for it.... CONTEXT.
If the story was about "how hot a rider is", that's a different matter.
Yes I think Louise is beautiful and Minnaar is handsome, but that's nothing to do with Louise joining Nukeproof.

 @rstwosix: and @patryka ‘s context WAS about her smile, also some context Wink
Just throwing my 2 cents in, since you’re being pedantic…

 @loamhunter08:
Ok at least you spelled pedantic correctly - I didn't! All the best.

 The £1000 seems to be prize money for an event rather than her salary.
