Barry Sheene Tribute bike

Barry Sheene; a true legend. A unique character with a huge personality. He has inspired a generation and was a hugely influential beyond the motorcycle racing scene. The British two-time world champion was more like a rockstar with his antics on and off the track made him a hero around the world. It’s easy to understand how a young impressionable two wheel fanatic from Wigan could not help but idolize Barry Sheene growing up. With No. 7 strapped to his bike, just like his hero, a youthful Nigel Page was shredding the BMX tracks. From BMX came a successful career racing mountain bikes, and now he is the manager of the Nukeproof powered Team CRC-Mavic.

Better than Christmas?
Barry Sheene Tribute bike

The discussions for this bike started last year, we just failed to mention to Pager that we had sorted it and surprised him at EWS Ireland, think he was a little stoked. The frame is a Large Nukeproof mega 275, with team partners Mavic helping out with a set of Gold painted Deemax Pro wheels and Barry Sheene leather replica custom race kit. Not 100% arranged a Barry Sheene replica Aircraft Helmet.

Despite his many years of racing, Nige has never had a custom lid! we sent Herve from 100% an idea and the OCD knocked it out the park with the custom painted Aircraft lid. Definitely worth the wait.

Nukeproof CRC

bigquotesIt was a very special weekend for myself as Rob from Nukeproof surprised me with a very special custom Nukeproof Mega 275 frame. We had discussed some ‘hero’ bike designs over a year ago and Rob had been working hard to get me a custom painted Barry Sheene replica bike done (my childhood hero) and to top it off Mavic had custom painted my Deemax Pro wheels gold like Barry’s and made me some custom pants and jersey to replicate Barry Sheene’s racing leathers.

Then the icing on the cake: 100% had custom painted me an aircraft helmet – again, a replica of Barry Sheene’s helmet. I was like a big kid at Christmas, what an amazing gift thanks so much to Rob and everyone involved I am very grateful, I definitely won the coolest bike and gear award for the weekend!

Looks stunning all together with the Nukeproof Horizon components, Gold Mavic Deemax and powered by the gold SRAM Eagle

As with any bike they are made to be used! Despite his reservations of getting it dirty, it wasn’t long before it was ready to shred the trails in Wicklow.

Massive thank you to all that made this possible, Scott and Alexis at Mavic, Herve at 100% and OCD. Enrique our graphic designer for helping the vision come to life and a special thanks to Johnny at Elite Refinishing/ Refurb My Bike Belfast who knocked it out the park again!

Anyone else miss the Warner/Page Freecastor free for all days? "He's letting it all hang out like a fat bird in a bikini". Lol, Red Bull ruined everything, they can't even film properly even though they have 10x the budget.

Rob sounded really awkward at times during fort bill. Honestly sounded like he has a gun to his head.

 @9M119M1: agree

 Warner/Page duo is unbeatable

@9M119M1: I watched the fort bill races and thought "I miss an excited warner commentary" - so that was him? Red bull clips your wings?

@jordanchaos: Red Bull gives you cancer.

@9M119M1: I agree. I had to mute the commentary near the end of the race, it was that unbearable.

Yea those dicks at red bull who came in and gave you live broadcasting for free when Freecaster couldnt do it anymore.

@scissors888: I would rather pay for broadcasting with some decent commentary than listen to that. Rob used to be legendary back in the day, now him and Claudio are just awkward all the time. I don't know, call me entitled or whatever, but that was garbage.

To be honest I don't think Warner and Caludio really work very well together. And I don't think Claudio should be commentating at all. His jokes at times are questionable and he isn't entertaining at all. On the other side, his course previews are awesome and he works great as the guy with the knowledge before the actual race during the "conversation" scenario. Just give Warner a better partner to commentate and a sixpack of booze.

Maybe I'm on my own boat, but I like Cunny better for commentating with Rob, than Claudio. People wanted Claudio for commentator because of his great course previews, and RedBull listened, but IMO they should keep Claudio on a bike and bring Cunny back for the live streaming.

@9M119M1: not sure if you are aware ...but the live feed is also now being used by the BIKE channel on SKY ,VIRGIN and freeview , i think they had technical issues on Sunday ..and they also have to cope with adverts.

One of the best looking bikes seen in awhile! I'd associate that more as a Barry Sheene paint job than anything cigarette related, but what ever, half full or half empty, most here are half empty! I'll take the other side, people do like to sit on they're moral high horses, yet buy phones computers and food that are produced by slave labour yet that's ok, nice one! Great work NP and Pagey!

NOW that is an nicely complimented paint and build. Some of the other big name brands might do well to take note from their over done dayglo neon schemes.

Awesome throw-back paint job! Love the little attention to details to pay homage to Sheene's bike.

@Earthmotherfu: Not sure what I read there but it made me laugh.

@Earthmotherfu: One of the most insane motorbikes ever to be built.

@northernchimp: 500cc two stroke "road" bike with a really abrupt power band and shod with too hard skinny (by today's standards) rubber. Heart stopping to ride.

That bike really is the dogs bollocks.big sticking out ones at that.

I love these retro homage projects. I just wish they would have done a white pike with gold and red decals!

That colour scheme just....Works and works beautifully.

Holy shit that's pretty. I'm at a loss for words beyond "holy shit". I never knew I wanted a paint job like that so badly.

The clearance of his fender looks incredibly small! Has sticky mud been banned by the UCI recently?
