Rosie's Delight
Usually by this time of year, we'd be in full shuttle mode. Logging over the winter changed the face of the mountain substantially, rendering many classic trails un-rideable until some sweat equity is invested. Recent snow meant that investment would have to wait. So, twice we pushed our bikes uphill for 450 m vertical to drop into Rosie's Delight just above the open mountain meadow. Usually meadow sessions are full speed affairs, with GPS documenting max speeds of over 60, sometimes close to 70 km/hr. With isolated patches of snow covering half the meadow, the speed turned down as the white roost turned up. After the meadow, this double-black trail funnels into a steep loamy rooty chute which stops about two bike lengths before a creek with vertical banks. In this shot a new club member, Andrew Brenholen, takes delight in all that is Rosie.
Fun fact: trails on this mountain are named after characters from the Jim Rose Circus. Mr. Lifto and Bearded Lady are other personal party-lap favorites.
