Press Release: PatrolIndonesian mountain bike specialists, Patrol Mountain, has announced our 3rd electric mountain bike. The Patrol E-Five joins the all-alloy Patrol E-Six electric enduro bike and versatile Patrol E-Zero hardtail, to give trail riders a new eMTB option.
Patrol Mountain believes in a no-compromise approach to designing and building mountain bikes, so when it came to developing a trail-specific EMTB we knew an entirely new platform was in order.
We've managed to maintain our brand identity with a silhouette that immediately shouts 'Patrol' but while similar in looks this is an entirely different package. The main triangle of the Patrol E-Five is made entirely from carbon fibre, a first for our EMTB range, and our efficient suspension platform has been tweaked to offer 130mm of useful rear-wheel travel.
Being a trail-specific EMTB we wanted the Patrol E-Five to bridge the gap between our versatile E-Zero and hard-hitting E-Six enduro bike, what we've created is a bike that suits a wide variety of riders thanks to our flip-chip adjustable geometry. Flipping the chip takes the E-Five from a mild-mannered mile muncher to a gravity-fueled down-country smasher.
The efficient 130mm of rear-wheel travel is matched to a 150mm travel Fox suspension fork, providing plenty of travel and traction for even the most demanding trails, and because the E-Five uses a Shimano EP8 motor and 630Wh BT8036 battery, you'll be able to lap trails all day long.

130mm E-bike? 125mm dropper? Why? Who are the people ordering these bikes?
Pretty funny that the marketing blurb on the Patrol website for the E-Six is a quote from Pinkbike that literally just describes the bike. "“THE 2021 E-SIX USES AN ALL-ALLOY FRAME WITH 150MM OF TRAVEL ON THE REAR AND 160MM AT THE OPPOSITE END. PATROL DEVELOPED THE E-SIX AS A 29ER EMTB AND SHIPS THE E-SIX WITH COMPLETE SHIMANO DRIVETRAINS, FOX SUSPENSION AND A MIX OF OWN-BRAND KIT.” – PINKBIKE
Pretty sure the Patrol website is made by a bot.
Also, our frames are designed and manufactured to our specifications. You won't find a catalogue frame with the same design, geometry or features as the E-Five (or any of our bikes for that matter)
What you call a "story", I call a Patrol-generated press release that you guys sent to Pinkbike. You're quoting a website, that's quoting your PR team. Cool?
Also, why a 125mm dropper? Do people riding shorter travel bikes enjoy the thrill of having a dropper post that could also force them over the handlebars when descending?
The quote in my original post, the one that you guys advertise on your website, it is NOT a "story". Pinkbike didn't write it up, Patrol Bikes did. I googled the quote, and found the Pinkbike post - it was written by Patrol Bikes. In other words: it was a press release. Here's the link incase you forgot:

So, like I said. You guys wrote the original press release for the E-Six. Sent it to Pinkbike. Pinkbike posted your press release, then you guys quoted Pinkbike (quoting YOU) as a marketing blurb that merely describes your product matter-of-factly, on your website. Just cut out the middle man and have your PR team send an email to your marketing folks. Are you guys new here?
" "The 2021 E-Six uses an all-alloy frame with 150mm of travel on the rear and 160mm at the opposite end. Patrol developed the E-Six as a 29er EMTB and ships the E-Six with completed Shimano drivetrains, Fox suspension and a mix of own-brand kit." - Patrol Bikes" - PINKBIKE (and now quoted for a 3rd time on the Patrol website)
Then again, this is brought to you by the company makes an E-hardtail. Why anyone on earth would want an e-hardtail, I dunno? For the rider that doesn't know if he'll like mountain biking, and also wants it to be really easy?
"From the company that brought you the e-hardtail and the e-short travel: the e-single speed. None of the fun. None of the effort!"
Although this is an eMTB, a shorter travel bike is still more efficient especially for riders who like to set a lower power/torque profile from the E-Tube app and achieve as much range as possible. There are those riders who want to Boost everywhere but there are other EMTB riders who want the best range/altitude gain possible and the E-Five is more suitable to this.
We also have a mix of product developers around the world and again, we have those who like big travel bikes and the terrain to warrant them, but we have other riders who prefer a shorter travel bike. We've tuned the E-Five to be a little more lively on the trail compared to our E-Six so each bump, roller or rock can either be ploughed through or easily jumped.
With the E-five in our range we now have an EMTB to cover most riders needs. The E-Six is our big travel bike, the E-Zero for riders who want a versatile EMTB, and the E-Five which is just as at home on trail center Blues, as it is on big mountain adventures ✌️
I don't know anyone UNDER THE AGE OF 50 who says "my next bike is going to be an eMTB".
