Video: Pinkbike Academy Top-3 Contestant Evan Wall Rides the Big Rock Candy Mountain

Last July, when Evan was just finding out if he'd be a contestant on the Academy, he and I set out to document the raw goodness of his trail creation, the Big Rock Candy Mountain.

Most riders would describe the Big Rock Candy Mountain as steep, slippery, and tough as hell—through a smile so big it barely fits on their face.

After a couple of laps with Evan, it became pretty clear that we had to document the trail and his riding. Just getting through some sections with your feet on the pedals is challenging enough, and hanging onto Evan's back wheel is difficult for even the best riders.

Just when you think you might keep up for a section, Evan pulls for some irresponsible gap and accelerates out of view. PS. this is not one of those gaps—this is just the trail. There are no ride arounds.

 Beginning of PB Academy: Ben- World Cup ringer, Addison- former pro pretty boy, Vlad- gun show amusement, Evan- filler.

Current status- Evan absolute freaking ripper. Low key assassin.

 100% slept on him even though he fastest in the first race that they did. He is proving his worth as a rider, and being more humble than the others isn't hurting him at all, either.

 Evan has been fast in the Canadian and BC enduro races. He did well in some EWS' races also. I had heard his name before as one of the "young rippers" around so it is awesome to see him get a bit of light on him. Seems he is well deserving.

 I'll be super bummed if Evan doesn't win. at the same time, there is no way he doesn't get signed 2 seconds after the shows completion, if he ends up losing.

 These Team Pilsner guys... always the most unassuming, laid-back dudes who look like they just woke up in the woods before wandering to the trailhead. Always friendly with a chat and fast as hell on a bike. Great video and best of luck with the rest of the PBA!

 I think Evan Should try riding at Hartland Mountain Bike Park in Victoria, BC. It has great technical riding, jumps, drops, roll-downs, smooth flowy trails, and pretty much everything you could ask for on a trail.
