I met Max Horner in our second year at the University of British Columbia and got to know him on a big mountain trip to Spences Bridge. He studies some sort of biomedical engineering that I don't bother trying to understand and rides his bike faster than I can wrap my head around. Although we often talk about shooting photos, filming edits, and having "productive" days on our bikes, it seems like school usually gets in the way... but even when you've got a heavy workload and exams to study for, it's easy to tear away from the books for a quick study break.

 soenduro

It's easy to get lost in the lush, green old-growth on Blackcomb.

How can you study, when you have some rad trails like that on your door step!
  • 29 1
the promise of oodles of money to buy bike stuff with is fairly motivating.

that trail is in whistler and he goes to school in Vancouver. its not on his door step. so a study break that is 4 hours of driving away is not really a study break its more f'ck school lets go riding type of day..

Haha yeah fair enough I do plenty of that! It's an easy escape as Whistler is home for me, surprisingly I did study a bit this weekend though.

@naibda I have to agree. Its awesome to see something that I could ride albeit at a significantly slower speed! This video makes me wish that it didn't snow last night...

 dream trail, simply beautiful

I live in Massachusetts too. The snow that we got made the biking even more fun.

@natemeyer haha I respect your dedication. Where do you ride in mass? I've been riding Bachelor st trails out by granby.

Mostly in leominster state forest but I also have some trails I made in the woods in my backyard. Bachelor street is so much fun I love that place. Haven't gotten to go recently though.

Funny, the first thing I see when I open pinkbike mid exam-studying-procrastination is a video titled "study break"... might have to check this shit out

Really nice trails. I got out for the first time today since surgery on my arm, just a simple spin on the trails but so nice to be out on the bike again

 Sick video. Pretty pinned too.

Nice to see a video without much unnecessary skidding, roosting, slow mo etc. That rock huck is far bigger than it looks on film.

Don't worry - you will still procrastinate like that once you leave school. I am 51 and had a sh**load of office work to do today and yesterday - so I did what any successful professional would do - went for a ride each day. Not quite the same trails - but 60* F and sunny - gotta do it.

Loved the video! Fast, smooth and brave.

Sick riding, sick trail and sick edit! At first the full-face seemed out of place, then I saw how fast he's attacking that trail. Rock huck looked burly with a tricky landing. Full-face a great idea.

Ironically, as a college student I spend most of my study breaks watching vids like this.... I dig the trail, lots of gnarly goodness out there. Dude did look a little out of control, I think he may have gotten lucky on missing a few of those trees

It's always like that these "mtb breaks", you leave your bureu and you never come back .....

Wish I could have afforded a bike like that while I was in college. Now I have a bike like that but no time to ride it...

Deal with my wife: maintain a 3.5 or sell my bike.
I gotta study.

Family comes first. I got a 2.2 with my first ba and couldn't get into grad school, all because I ditched my homework to ride. Gotta get the priorities straight.
