Foes had the correct answer to keeping lateral flex to a minimum. Their Wet One fork from 1999 had a 30 mm axle and dedicated hub.

In the winter I ride my full suspension fat bike with studded tires on private trails. I have been asked not to post pics or video to social media, or share routes on Strava. It sux because it's huge, beautiful, and crazy steep. But it's a very fair trade off to be able to be the only person to ride there. Transfers are brutal too

Nerding Out: How Temperature Affects Your Suspension
Agreed. Maxx Grip and other soft compound tires turn to wood below about 45 degrees F. They seem to get harder than standard compound tires at low temps. Definitely more noticeable than suspension changes.
