Reader Story: Building a Custom Steel Single Pivot Enduro Bike
Familiar home mountains in the background pulled me into the article. Great work, very nice result. Will be following your work closer from now on. Chapeau - kapo dol!

Wolf Tooth Launches New GeoShift Performance Angle Headset
@Dangerhill: It is more a folklore and myth than a real need. I ride my FB29 in High and is way better in nearly every aspect. The bike is truly alive all the time. I have done about 320000 vertical metres in two years, trashed one frame and a rim, I jump it, race it, teach with it... Whenever I switch for a couple of weeks, just for the sake of it, to low setting, I always revert. Incomparable agility, pop, clearance and maneuverability. I have also tested the new Enduro... same story.. it is a stupid, train-like sled in low or a freaking fun and versatile bike in high. But I still prefer my FB 29... Way more versatile and equally fast. But I admit that I hate and avoid wide, smooth, flowy, highway-like trails. You will find me on gnarly, steep, slipery and scary stuff. I guess this wolftooth would come handy to slacken the old switchblade a bit though.

The Pinkbike Podcast: Episode 18 - Are Electronics on Your Mountain Bike Good or Bad?
Got an AXS 2 months ago, out of curiosity. Won't go back to classic. It is just better. Simple. Sturdy. Precise. Quiet. Price? Who cares. You cannot judge everything through objective value. I rarely do. And I never regret.

Review: Bontrager's New $1300 Line Pro 30 Carbon Wheels
Hmm, being out on the market for a second wheelset, the new Bontragers were an option. Until this article. Hooked rims plus no superboost plus = no go. I could deal with purchasing another hub from i9, but hooked rims and my DH casing tires will not get along well. I have been riding on hookless rims since 2014 roval traverse SL, no reason to go back to the hassle. So, it will be a raceface next R31 carbon wheels or simply another set of reynolds blacklabels which has so far proven to be great. I will just need to ignore the price again.

First Ride: 2021 Commencal Meta TR - Is Mini-Enduro a Thing?
@eugenux: I had a DHF-DHF combo for years, and then switched to Shorty up front until last year when I tried Assegai because it was easier to get, and I stuck with it. I agree there is a bit more rolling resistance ove the DHF, but in terms of grip and control, there is no comparison in all, but especially in serious, wet, slimy, shitty conditions which I prefer. Still, I need to prep the Assegai by removing transitional knobs, so it sheds mud better and bites deep and hard, and feels very much like thenShorty. .I run both tires DH casing, maxx Grip front. I ride a lot, 5-7 days a week, my tours are almost always longer than 1000vm, the tires roll just fine, but the grip and control outweighs any second (for which i couldnt care less) or Watt, lost on the uphill. I guess i I lived in some very dry, arid and hardpacked terrain, my choice would have been different.

Review: 2020 Nukeproof Reactor 290c RS
@MikerJ: a chipped (transfer knobs away) Assegai maxx terra DD up front and DHF 2.5 or 2.6 DD in the back just beats anything I had ever tried, except for the Shorty / DHF combo. Next time, will go for Shorty maxx grip 2.5 up front and Assegai in the rear, to deal with beloved slippery and slushy autumn/winter conditions.

7 Mountain Bike Hydration Packs Ridden & Rated
Raptor 14, second gen now. The first lasted for amazing 5 years, saved my back a couple of times and kept me supplied on transalps while guiding. The latest generation is subtely improved on key spots (durability, fit). The hydration system is second to none. I take it on every ride, also to the parks and shuttle days - the times when I bothered with water bottles are left more than a decade in the past... I also use the larger Syncro 20 for the rainy winter days when i need to stash in and protect more stuff.

First Ride: The 2020 Specialized Enduro is Bigger & Burlier Than Ever
Not bad. Anticipated long needed step-up from previous model that has become stretched to the limits of its form. Last year I swapped my sworks 29 for the Pivot firebird 29. Will have to see in person how the new Enduro rides but after reading and watching available first reviews, Firebird is a keeper. Kudos to Spec for the step forward.
