You Say Progression, I Say Potato - Sunday Comics with Taj Mihelich
I ride a little street geo bmx and I love the thing. I mostly ride our own backwoods jump trail on the mtb and long, low and slack isn’t really the recipe for success there. MTBs are also really expensive to be bailing a ditching into rocks and stuff. Seriously considering getting a 22” instead of the mtb but haven’t ridden one yet. A slightly bigger bmx with a brake that’ll actually stop the bike could be the one.

Interview: Nico Vink on the Move to Transition, Freeride & Bike Park Dreams
So in another interview he’s said that he’s been riding 27.5” wheels and got used to them...but look at that whopping clearance on the front wheel. Not so at the rear he using a 29” fork and 27.5” wheels? These are the answers we really need

Sage Titanium Announces Powerline 29er Hardtail
Coming back to this bike  I think the geometry makes perfect sense for a bike that’s gonna be pedalled all day, mostly in the saddle and across varied terrain. Not everything has to be an enduro bike.

Sage Titanium Announces Powerline 29er Hardtail
steep seat angles aren’t just about keeping the front wheel on the ground and certainly not just for tall riders (anther misconception). They put you in a more powerful pedalling position. 73° was the norm for a long time on road bikes which are ridden from the saddle when going up, down and across - it’s a comfortable average for all grades (ever spent a day pedalling on flat from the steep position on your enduro bike?) At the aggressive end of mtb we only sit down to climb these days so it makes sense to prioritise a seated position for going uphill that allows you to pedal more efficiently ‘bio-mechanically’ and also has the benefit of keeping the wheels planted. I know some short riders who’ve never had to worry about the front wheel lifting as their COG is lower but they still slam the saddle forward on already ‘steep’ seat angles simply because it’s a stronger pedalling position.

 guess I’m doing desert and it’s humble pie...? Maybe it is a freeride bike after all. Maybe freeride ain’t about the bike. Maybe clouds ARE made of unicorn farts.
