Burning Question: Why Have Some Pro Riders Downsized to a 27.5" Rear Wheel?
I have the new patrol. I can corner it significantly easier than my old sentinel despite it having a longer wheelbase. Not sure why the smaller rear wheel helps so much with that, but I love it. I used to hate big sweeping berms, now they are my favorite trail feature.

Field Test: Commencal Meta HT AM Ride - Big Tires & Big Fun
I've got a mullet bike, and coming from a 29er I can confirm that mullets aren't just marketing hype. They are a great option for someone who wants a bike that blends the characteristics of the two wheel sizes., Looking at commencal's website it seems they designed the bike to work with either dedicated wheel sizes or a mix given that half of their builds come with 29/27.5 wheels front/rear and the other half are either full 29 or full 27.5.

Large Transition Sentinel Alloy with Upgrades

$2650 USD
I am selling my 2018 Transition Sentinel (size large). I have loved this rig but its time with me has run out. It has been well taken care of; everything is in good working order. Many parts were just recently serviced or replaced. There is some cosmetic damage to the frame in high-wear areas (see pictures). This bike was very progressive when it was released and still outpaces the geometry of many current bikes on the market. Also, transition makes a bombproof product; you should be able to ride this frame for years to come. I would MUCH prefer a local buyer. That being said, I will ship within the lower 48 if the buyer agrees to pay shipping and paypal fees. Price is $2650 OBO. I can be flexible on the price but please no unreasonable offers. Here are the specs: Fork: Rockshox Lyrik RC - Serviced less than a month ago, only 2 rides since then. 170mm air spring installed. Will include the original 160mm air spring as well in case you want to bring it down to stock numbers. Shock: Fox DPX2 - Serviced less than a month ago, only 2 rides since then. Rims: Rear = DT Swiss EX511 w/ Hope pro 4 hub. New within ~ 50 miles of riding, no dents. Front = e13 TRS w/ novatech hub, also has no dents. Both were just trued. Drivetrain: Mix of Shimano XT/SLX 12-speed with SRAM cranks/chainring. Everything is new within ~ 50 miles of riding. The cassette is missing a tooth on the largest cog. I have ridden it like this for the past few months and there are absolutely zero adverse affects to the shifting. Overall the drivetrain is in great shape and should last a few seasons. Brakes: SRAM Code R. Just bled. Almost brand new MTX gold label brake pads (only ~ 20 miles of use) Rotors: Sram Centerline 220mm front/rear. ( ~ 20 miles of use) Seatpost: Rockshox reverb, 175mm travel Front tire: Maxxis Assegai 29x2.5 WT, 3c, exo+, max terra compound (~ 20 miles of use) Rear tire: Maxxis DHRII 29x2.4 WT, 3c, DD, max terra w/ tannus armour rear insert (brand new, haven't even installed them on the bike yet but will do so before giving you the bike) Pedals: DMR Vaults, I will include these for an extra $20 If you have any more questions please reach out!

Review: Specialized Stumpjumper EVO 29
I'd say the closest thing to what you're looking for is a transition smuggler. 120mm rear, 140mm reduced offset fork, and 66 degree hta. You could slacken it out even more with a longer travel fork, around 0.5 degrees per 10mm increase in travel.

@iqbal-achieve: I have felt what you're talking about, I was talking more about the flop you experience on steep climbs due to lack of weight over the front wheel which the short offset does help with in my opinion. But yes I do think that the normal offset has an edge in climbing on rough and awkward terrain.
