Mountainbike vs. Snowboard - Showdown in the Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn
Johannes Fischbach is trying his hardest to beat the long European winter with his own weapon - his Radon Swoop 200. He’s decided to go full throttle in the snowpark at Kitzsteinhorn where he duels against snowboarders down the park.
After watching this I told my wife I'm taking my bike to the Ski hill. She just gave me a blank stare, the same stare I get when I take our 9 month old son to the bike shop to try out new bikes. Apparently riding my bike on a ski hill is equivalent to looking at AM/Enduro bikes for a 9 month old. Some times I feel bad for my wife, but to be fair I did warn her when we started dating!
Anyways, this Vid is savage and we need more of this in the world!
I know those looks all too well.. especially when the season is right around the corner.. the word budget is coming up way too frequently now. Also I always end up talking to her while I have a tab for new bikes open...
@icedemon05lrb: Haha I think most of us married guys have seen "the Look" when bikes get brought up. Although my wife did add the X01 eagle drive train to our budget so I count myself very fortunate!!!
I ripped through the halfpipe at our local Howelsen Hill many times before. One time as I came out the bottom a ski patroller saw me and yelled "Buy a ticket!"
I used to convince a few friends to ride up the slopes at night on our bikes.
The people who worked on the slopes had no clue what to do with us.
We rode down on packed snow shoe trails.
Always thought about building jumps.
Packed snowshoe trails is where we ride with our fatbikes... Not everywhere but a lot of place are in fact snowshoe trails. You should try fatbiking my friend!
@Timo82: a fully rigid bike with tractor tires could be fun . I have never had problems riding my bike in snow. I used to ride my road bike on hard packed snow! That was 30 years ago
The old man in me wants to say, "You damn kids ski/ride in the winter, and leave the biking until the snow melts!" But after watching, I'd say that was pretty damn rad.
skiers would also be complaining and making dumb comments like this. i'll take you and your skier buds in a challenge of speed, style, or both. i mean seriously, there are legit skiers who like moguls. there are no legit riders who do.
@jtayabji: indeed. I had my share of unfortunate run ins with boarders, but at the end of the day it’s not the snowboards fault but the guy/gal who stands on the board or on the skis. And saying skiers would have been way in front is just straight up stupid. They filmed it that way in purpose and if you go to fast on the jumps you just overshoot em.
Anyways, this Vid is savage and we need more of this in the world!
Note: Pro level of bike control is necessary!!!

I guess it depends where you're from because here, we can't ride our summer bikes, too much snow. Only when really icy!
Not 4x but...
April 1st here in ColoRADo
