Cyndi Lauper got it right in the early 80s, Girls just wanna have fun. And when you combine fancy dress, bacon, fireball, scantily clad men, and of course bikes, that is exactly what you get.

On Saturday 200+ ladies took to the world-renowned trails of Squamish BC for the all-female Enduro race, Hot On Your Heels. The race consisted of 4 stages, varying from flowy bike park style trails to fast and technical. Starting out the day with a very social transition climb up Legacy Trail to Stage 1, the famous and very popular, Half Nelson.

The course is perfectly designed with all skill levels in mind, pushing some of the riders out of their comfort zone, while still keeping it fun for the more advanced riders out there. And Stage 2 did exactly that, with riders taking on the single black diamond trail Hybrid, connecting through to Lowdown. Then onto the food stations…

Transitions were very carefree with no time limit required for getting to the next stage. It was all about having fun and sharing the experience with your existing and new found friends.

Stage 3 brought back some flowy fun on Pseudo-Tsuga. Even though the sun wasn’t shining bright, everyone was having a great day and enjoying the super tacky trail conditions after the previous night's rain. I don’t think rain could have dampened the spirits of these ladies.

Onto the final stage, Hoods in The Woods. But not before being pampered by these hunky men offering sponge baths and some much needed massages. It was very easy to forget you were in a race and almost just as difficult to convince yourself to leave the massage station and finish.

All good things must come to an end, but wait just a minute. Time to kick off those riding shoes and transform yourself into the elegant lady we all have hidden under that sweaty riding gear.

Hot On Your Heels is so much more than a race, it is a celebration of women who have a passion for riding bikes. It is an opportunity to enjoy the laughter, support one another, push our limits, embrace our strength, being healthy and to grow our confidence. And being a little silly.
See you all next year for some more fun and adventure.
