The third round of the iXS European Downhill Cup will invite numerous riders and visitors to Val di Sole in Italy. The former World Cup track enjoyed a little face lift and now provides the perfect ground for another high-ranking iXS Downhill race.

At the moment we’re moving very fast: after last weekend’s EDC race in Schladming, the next round of the series already stands in line. The well-known Val di Sole in the Trentino area owes its name to the Mountain Bike World Championships in 2008 and to its repeated role as a venue of the World Cup. The track is known to be one of the hardest downhill courses in the world and therefore simply calls for a spot in the iXS European Downhill Cup. After Maribor and Schladming, Val di Sole is the third of seven venues of the EDC 2014 and the first three stops have even more in common: They are all former World Cup tracks and they all belong to the favorite tracks of the downhill elite!

But of course, nobody ever gets tired of innovation and surprises. Therefore, the track enjoyed a little face lift during the last few weeks and is now even more exciting, but also more demanding. It offers 2200 meters in length with additional 520 meters in altitude. Some parts have been omitted, others have been added, but most parts are similar to the old World Cup course: some of you might still remember Pippo´s Old School Section… All in all, the track in Val di Sole stays as tough as ever!

And again, the race is already fully booked up with 400 riders from 27 nations on the start list. A short look on the weather forecast shows that this weekend will be especially interesting for those who enjoy some downhill action in the mud, as it might get wet in Val di Sole! But who cares about the weather?! We’re looking forward to an exciting third round of the EDC!

The last few years these ixs cups have just been getting better and better. Such a pro looking set up and competition is top notch. Coverage and information is more available now too which makes a difference. Well done to the organizers, it would be a lot of work!

UCI is losing ground to IXS for venue selection. Ft Bill being the only full on DH course so far on the UCI calendar.

 what about hafjell?

While I agree that IXS has more bad ass venues, at least the UCI still has Fort Bill, MSA, and Hafjell. If it weren't for those tracks, the UCI would be hung out to dry.

With live coverage from Red Bull more Top Teams would attend these races and they would be at the Same step like UCI. Then we could get rid of the UCI in Downhill Mountainbiking and have proper Downhill again.

You can't call yourself a 'World Cup' if you don't go around the world, the isn't Umerika. At least the UCI takes it to the world.
