Video: Vinny T Hunts Down Pristine Bike Park Trails on his eMTB

by RambaudMax

The opening date of the french Bikeparks have been announced. Bernex will open on the 27th of June as will Châtel and Morzine. Les Gets has been open since this weekend.

Good news then after these hard times.

But Vinny didn’t wait for the openings of the bikeparks. He took his eMTB for a spin on the local trails of Bernex Bikepark.

bigquotesI love the fact that I can get to the top of the bikeparks before the openings. The first run down on the fresh trails, after the winter, is one of the best feelings.Vinny T

 Haters gonna hate.
He's riding trail, we are typing on a robot.
Looks to me like he is having fun, shredding berms, riding wheelies in the woods. Why do you go biking? Is it to act like you never use technology from your grass hut and your hamster wheel powered pinkbike computer or phone? You're probably tired from all that pedaling so you generate enough watts so you can hate on E-bikes. Are you sweating yet? Oh no, whoops, i'm sorry, that's egg on your face.

I don't think people hate e-bikes just the misinformation about their capabilities and use. But these e-bike marketing stories are not, IMHO, a reflection of the majority of the e-bike market. When PB starts posting stories of middle aged people who ride a few times a month being able to get up trails they would otherwise struggle with, then there will be some truth to the advertising. I have yet to run across an e-biker that shreds or is in the age group of the stories posted on here. I'm not saying those people don't exist. I am saying that the 10 or so e-bikers I've come across in the past two months are nothing like the above professional. Maybe they could disclaim "this professional rider has been compensated and furnished the pictured e-bike."

What would be really cool is if each chair on the lift had a charging station for your e-bike.

@foggnm: Then you really haven't been looking. I don't own an ebike, but there are some serious shredders out there who spend a lot of time on Ebikes.

@foggnm: I think some people hate E-bikes. The "purist" in them won't allow it.

Why EBike when you can just ride your Motocross on the trails all day since everyone's inside isolating? You can get 2 Motocross for the price of one EBike.

@Mullet-Bullet: I have no doubt. But I do think they make up a fraction of the true market. Just like enduro racers make up a fraction of the mid/long travel 29er market.

@foggnm: Idk maybe Jill and Brynn, Strobel... PNW low-key knows what's up. lots of Bham heavy hitters on them. Stick to the judging riders on IMBA greens though.
  • 3 1
@MrPulse: Well the purist have already lost the war on that one, no matter how you feel about the issue.
  • 8 0
@graniteandrew: Is IMBA greens a juice bar in the PNW?
  • 9 0
@foggnm: Must be where you live. Where I live there are tons of folks who straight up rip on e-bikes and any other bike for that matter. If you can shred analog you can shred E too.
No to say that there aren't tons of middle aged Joeys out there too Smile

@Dustfarter: Hey if I lived in LA and had to sit in traffic for 2 hours to ride, I'd want an ebike too so I could make it to the top before it got dark.

Except the problem is you've described the majority of the MTB world in general, not just eMTB. I don't care if you and your buddies are young shredders, you are in the minority of people on the planet buying mountain bikes. If your problem with eMTBs are simply what you feel is not "truth in advertising", then you should have a problem with all MTB ads in general that are not just slow-pokes tooling around in the woods.

@foggnm: Probably one of the best comments I’ve seen on here. I agree most e-bikers are usually 40 and I’ve never seen one of them shred. Then we see a video of Vinny T and all the e-bike kissasses are like look how good they are, even though Vinny was probably riding at about 10% of what he could do. So if you take someone who is average already and drop there level by 90% of courses there going to be crap.

 @foggnm: Lol! Too true
  • 15 0
@foggnm: so your opinion is based on the "10 or so e-bikers" that you have come across. Not exactly a large sample size to make a blanket statement about the entire emtb segment. Newsflash, the rippers that are sending it on ebikes are out there and growing. Marketing is marketing, 80-90% of the people you see on enduro bikes can't ride anything close to 100% of the marketing you see. Isn't this the same exact "misinformation" you are complaining about?
  • 13 0
@foggnm: you clearly don't live in the bay area in Cali. Most of the dudes that send it bigger and faster than anyone else all had e-bikes by 2019 and their ages range from 25-50. The same people that owned the majority of analog DH koms now own all the electric DH koms. And the guys that own the uphill koms? They mostly complain about e-bikes.

Cool to see that even the top names in MTB are riding E-bikes. After all, it's still a bike even if it helps you a bit.

When the company who pays your salary asks you to be filmed riding an ebike, you ride an ebike

Funny there are more below threshold comments than above. Must mean something.

Yep. The same dim losers still on snailbikes that doesn't know how to turn their ebike filter on.

Means that soon enough ebikes will be allowed on all trail systems and we can see their faces as we pass them on the climbs.

@coletrane-mtb: Apples and oranges pal. An ebike is not a mountain bike. Feel smug if you can pass another person on an ebike - you are fooling yourself if you think you are faster than a mountain biker.
