Video: The Commencal Les Orres Team Visits Madeira

by Ravanel-MTB

For the past several years we have been invited by Visit Madeira to finish the season with our friends of Mountain Bike Madeira Meeting, a great event in beautiful Madeira Island. We are totally in love with the place but also with the incredible mountain bike trails and scenery! Exploring the best trails of the island, having some surfing session and being immersed in this culture with super nice people around, such a good way to start the off-season.

We are proud to present here our pre-holiday video from our last trip there in October, supported by Madeira Island, Madeira Ocean & Trails, Mountain Bike Madeira Meeting and Commencal Bikes, a partner of the event.

As the season just started, let’s just remember the good times watching our pre-holiday movie!

And be sure to save the date of 2023 Mountain Bike Madeira Meeting

I'm sure it's amazing - but you had a pro MTB team there, and the video had, like, one shot of them hitting one mellow corner a few times, interspersed with lifestyle tourist shots of the island.... and the of the 23 photos in the article, there was one single picture of actual mountainbiking.

It's a weird article for sure.. if you want to go just for biking, then book direct with Freeride Madeira - they build all the trails on the island and know where's best to go!

I think it was more an advertising for madeira than for commencal. btw, can't wait to see this meta v5 released !!!

I just got back from Madeira and the lack of riding shots is pretty spot on as I have literally 0 and had purchased a new gopro before i left....riding was too good to remember to turn it on or stop for shots

You've got serious existential problems my poor bunny. It's gonna be OK. Breathe and ride.

@Sylvain38: yeah, why do you think that is? who do you think paid the most for this to be made?

A: Madeira Tourism

I think it perfectly demonstrates how fun is bike trips!
no need to try demonstrate all the gnarr and blood. Sometimes nice to chill and hit some trails.
Trust me Portugal have loads what to offer for mountainbikers Smile

Madeira is ace. I spend approx 6 months a year living out there and riding the trails. It's my 'happy place'.

Remote work, gig work, or are you just wealthy? lol Sounds freaking awesome! It looks like a lifetime worth of trails to ride!

 @ryanandrewrogers:

I have a home on the island and can work from anywhere with data connection. Not wealthy at all. Just trying to live my best life.

The island is rapidly becoming a hot spot for digital nomads (the Government are heavily promoting this), but also young families who are moving there for a better quality of life (as many jobs can now be run remotely, the timezone is easy for UK or Europeans) and flights back to mainland Europe are cheap and plentiful). The average salary on the island is pitifully small, so the cost of living is accordingly very low. If you can live on island with an off island income, you can live like a king & queen. The downside is that property prices are going utterly crazy. Our home in Funchal has doubled in value in just 4yrs.

Madeira is an amazing place. It needs to be experienced at least once and most who now visit come back again and again.

(You can also fly direct from the US during peak months).

Just back home from Madeira and can fully recommend this place for the best bike holidays, booked day out with Madeira Altitude guys, we spend all day riding some amazing trails with great people and ended up by the sea watching the sunset and having some drinks in the local bar, will be visiting back for sure, this time with more than just one day

Just got back from a week with FreeRide Madeira. Amazing place. If you go make sure to book with them. They build and look after the trails unlike other guiding companies. John and the guys really know how to show you the best the island has to offer.

I was there back in April. Pedro and Fabio of Freeride Madeira guided me through the best MTB experience I've had to date.

@Costigan76: Pedro and Fabio were my guides from a few years back. They were great to hang with! Three amazing days of riding. Will never forget it.
