We assure you that this will be a bumpy ride, but well worth it, so please join us to review the top ten most popular articles of this year.
I would not be anywhere on the bike without Steve. Most importantly, he taught me to be confident in my abilities, race my bike properly and take risks. As training partners, we pushed each other to the limit. - Teammate, Mark Wallace
'McGazza' has been the big friendly giant of freeride for the past decade and his affable presence, a staple of Crankworx and Rampage, was instantly identifiable by the golden mane sprouting from the bottom of his helmet. Kelly was a fan favourite for his massive backflips, but it was his personality which endeared him to all who knew him. - Scott Secco
This beautifully edited video of Brandon Semenuk practicing on his home track reveals that there is much more to his near-perfect performances in competition than raw talent.
I didn't know it at the time, but I was pulling some crazy G's. As soon as I hit the top, it was like an explosion - I found forces that I didn't even know existed. I just compressed and I couldn't control my bike. Then, I remember being in the air. I couldn't believe what happened. But, luckily, the fall was so huge that I was able to come to my senses of what was happening to me. - Matt MacDuff
World Champs is a special event, a chance for teams to surprise their athletes with custom paint jobs, components, and kits, all in the hopes that one of their racers will end up with the rainbow stripes on top of the podium.
No one takes you serious in the movie business unless you make at least two of something - more is always better, right? And, this is serious business. Serious off-road bicycle riding business. So, get ready for a whole lot of more. More antics. More deep thoughts. More X-treme mountain cycling. And, more slow-mo... especially, more slow-mo. Yeah... that sounds Not2Bad.Anthill Films
...He presents his home country as it most probably never has been presented before. Danny transforms natural features of rolling Scottish hills into the ultimate rider's playground; combining the best of technical trail riding with Danny's impressive trials skills. - Red Bull Media
The battle for drivetrain dominance continues to rage on, but this is a fight that benefits the consumer, and mountain bikers now have more options than ever. One thing is abundantly clear - the front derailleur's extinction has never been more imminent.- Mike Kazimer
2016 was a brutal year for well known people. RIP to all of them, Lemmy, Prince, Bowe, Smith, Kelly etc. That said, Come on 2016, still some time left for Trump.
In honour of two of my favourite riders, I will be changing my last name to a hybrid of their names. Danny Macaskill and Brendon Semenuk shall be forever immortalized in my geneology when I change my legal name to Pubert Semenskill.
I've never been wild about my first name, but with this change, I can now hold my head up high.
Im a little disappointed that Brandon Semenuks raw video came in before Kelly McGarrys Memoriam. Not to say Brandons clip was not sick, it was for sure super sick, just feel like the memoriams were the most important. Anyways, yep. #McGazzaForever #LongLiveChainsaw
Man, the McDuff video had somehow slipped by me up until now. That guy is unreal! Absolute insanity, I'd near wet myself just going down the drop in to that loop.
Haven't they been bigger than the main sprocket ever since the introduction of 11spd? Unless you're just a savage and ride a 44t front, in which case, I salute you, for you are truly a king among men.
@AgrAde: "the front derailleur's extinction has never been more imminent"........Back in the day was like an inane competition to have more gears, it was retarded. On my 24 speed I used about 8 gears total, and I was pretty well as avid a rider as I could be.
A front mech is handy when you run a 11-23 cassette like I do, I'm hopefully never going to run a bigger cassette sprocket than my chainring and I use my 44t often, you can try to keep up with your 1x but you probably won't.
Since 2000 all of my mountain bikes have had a single front ring. Road and CX bikes had double fronts. Will never run a front drl on a bike again other than a road bike. Been dead to me for 16 years.
@maxyedor: met up with a guy on a local trail, Sj29er running 40t up front 11spd! I am embarrassed to mention the 28t I had on my SJ when we met up, but to be fair, the dude looked like Marshan Lynch in a MTB. Haha. On a new years resolution note, I need to improve my fitness
Unfortunately, only the great were on the reaper's list this year..
Got Carrie Fisher, her mom and George Michael just now, who's left for the grand finale??
He has skilled semen! Fertility hit squad!
Two of them are 1x, the dh bike and my winter hack both running a 39t ring.
