Press Release: Ride Panzer

After 3 years in the insert market, at Panzer we have developed the second generation of inserts, it has named Evo. This generation gives more protection to the rim, more durability and structural rigidity to the insert.

With a 15% weight reduction, the new Evo shape significantly increases structural rigidity thanks to an "internal reinforcement laminate" to make it even more rigid.

The New material named Gen3l has been developed with a clear objective: increasing the level of rim protection and extending the life of the insert itself, without negatively impacting on the insert’s weight. This material has an enormous capacity to absorb impact, and thanks to the addition of an internal reinforcement laminate its structural rigidity, the resistance to deformation and stretching has been reduced to 200%.

With the new Panzer Evo shape, the total volume of the insert has been reduced by 20%, protection in the area with the highest exposure to impact has been increased, and maximum adjustment of the insert to the rim has been achieved without negatively impacting on ease of installation.

These significant modifications entail an increase in the volume of air inside the tyre, allowing greater freedom in terms of tyre deformation.

To avoid compatibility problems with too aggressive tubeless sealant, Panzer includes a 125 ml. for your first dose. The first sealant compatible with any insert, latex and ammonia free.

Panzer Evo is already available in all the countries where we have distribution. You can consult any information or request its distribution on the web: www.ridepanzer.com.

 It would cool to see PB do a long term test on tire inserts to show how well they hold up in terms of degradation, compression, and to sealant. There are foams that degrade and breakdown after repeated compression.

 Lighter and cheaper than cushcore, seems like a good option.

 Looks like it would be significantly easier to mount a tire also.

 @billbrasky: yeah might get in the way of the valve but easy to fix.

 @ybsurf: Every insert is lighter and cheaper than cushcore

 It doesn't seem to give side support to the tire, so what's the point. It's not the same product for the same thing. Mounting CC is easy after the first time and mounting CX CC is very easy from the start.

 @thegoodflow: and worse. I recommend to buy CC or if its about not spending mony, then don't buy any.

 @mtb-journal: it looks to give plenty of sidewall support, that’s the whole point of the “T” shape. As long as the T is wider than the tire above the rim, it’ll provide support. Cushcore’s unique “flat” shape isn’t the end-all either - plenty have dented or cracked rims due to not enough material between tire and rim. Pros and cons to every design, that’s why having more options is only a good thing.

 @PHeller: Cushcore isn't designed to physically protect the rim. It's designed to add support along the sidewall and to change the air volume. You can never blame a cracked or dented rim on Cushcore being too soft or thin, it's job is NOT to physically cushion against impacts.

 @billbrasky: I (an ordinary non mechanic) can mount any combination of tire type to cushcore in less than 2 minutes. The myth that CushCore requires herculean strength, time, and a PhD in physics to mount needs to die.

 @fullendurbro: fresh Maxxis DD casing and brand new CC is pretty tough, takes me maybe 5-8min per wheel depending on the rim. trick is to use soapy water towards the end, waking the bead nice and slippery to pop on!

 @PHeller: I thought the "V" shape does not sit tight enough in the rim and thus can move around inside the tire, thus not giving the sidewall support CC doe. But, as always, the more the merrier, I agree.

 @TylerG96: Try letting the fresh rubber sit in the sun for a few minutes to help it relax. That usually helps a lot too!

 @thegoodflow: yeah that's a good point Smile

 @thegoodflow: Procore lol

 @TylerG96: DD tires are extremely tight!

 @PHeller: Solid rubber tire glued to rim will solve all flat problems....

 @fullendurbro:

Less than 2 minutes !!!?

I find that very hard to believe . Less than 10 minutes maybe ...

 @Rosemount: I had the misfortune of practicing my technique when I had one of those nightmare stretches with nonstop flats.

 @just6979: Cushcore themselves don't agree with you.

BENEFITS
Rim protection
Prevents flat tires
Less rider fatigue
More control

 @fullendurbro: Did you use the Tushcore Bum Shoehorn? That would of cut it down a few seconds...

 @curendero: No, the surgeons didn't give it back after they extracted it.

 @fullendurbro: Cheap bastards!!

 Might be the best commercial ever. Lots of legit riding, good sound, quick cuts, some big dude yelling at you in a foreign language with an unarguable point topped with a bit of corporal punishment.

 I use Rimpact and I'm very happy with it. Similar shape to cushcore, lower weight and price and relatively easy to install compared to cushcore. I like the support and feeling it gives to the wheels/tires.

 I installed the Panzer EVO on my mtb and I have to say how disappointed I am.
Please see the pictures at this link: photos.app.goo.gl/WCfuds3zRaFJvzoCA

My weight is 75kg, including gear I might be around 80kg max.
I am 49 years old and I ride quite carefully.I never run less than 22psi on front and 24psi on rear. I always check before each ride.

As you can see my rim got a serious dent. My fork did not even bottom up, plenty of travel available.
Was not the Panzer EVO supposed to prevent this?

 Hey guys ,you know what else is lighter and cheaper than these pool noodles? 3-5psi....
  • 11 2
 Are you also running tubes? :-)

 You're missing the point. And I think Panzer is too.

"These significant modifications entail an increase in the volume of air inside the tyre, allowing greater freedom in terms of tyre deformation."

Cushcore's whole point was to reduce the air volume and replace it with something that rebounds slower, the foam, along with physically pushing on the sidewall to give it more support. That sidewall support is what allows the lower pressures, but you still need to keep enough pressure to match your bike and riding to keep the rim off the ground.

 @just6979: Well said! the main reason I love cushcore is the sidewall support. I don't understand why the competitors don't understand that
  • 1 0
 @senorbanana: That's why we have DH casings.
  • 2 0
 @Losvar: I did a back to back test:

DH tire + no insert VS. enduro tire + cushcore.

Same pressures, same pump. I give the nod to DH tire with no insert. Had better sidewall support, more traction.

Cuschcore setup protects the rim a lot better though, had far more noticeable rim strikes with DH tire+no insert.

Tires on test were 27.5 michlin Wild enduro, and the michelin DH22. Both used as fronts. Comparable weight.
  • 1 0
 @skerby: Did you feel the DH tire pinged off impacts more than the enduro and cushcore?
  • 2 0
 @skerby: wild enduro have extra rubber between tread.and almost no place to hit the rim between tread.
this the only tire i did no manage to pinchflat.
highroller is super easy to pinch (cut) because the rim fit between inside and side tread

 Lov the italian mafia mad scientist guy. I love my CC. These look similar, and certainly better than the other options out there.

 it's not italian - it's spanish.

 anyone run stans sealant w/the Panzer set up?
