Great recap of the DS, especially. Bikes are fun. Wow, crazy that a non downhiller won the DH race on a non downhill bike...but more power to him haha
(Sep 22, 2014 at 7:03)
I guess it shows how much AM/Enduro bikes have come on over the last few years.
But damn, how are we meant to slag off Lefty's now?
(Sep 22, 2014 at 13:30)
Remember when Expert DH at Big bear was won on a hardtail? That was 2002/3.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 17:47)
To all you guys who downplay the speed and skill in Enduro, realize this is what we're up against: Full-on national level DH speed for 10+ minutes on trails we've barely seen, followed by doing it again on the next stage. Build enough fitness so the pedaling doesn't bother you and you'll love the format.
P.S. Did he drop first cuz he got a flat or something in qualifying?
(Sep 21, 2014 at 19:34)
I believe also that enduro is down played at times and that it Does require technical prowess and Mad endurance, but it is not "full on national level DH speed" down full on DH tracks, in general.....This is my opinion and I don't mean any offense..but if an enduro stage is on a real DH track, most enduro riders, with this winner very much excluded with a hand full of others, are certainly not going "full on national level DH speed" down them. With this race and some others as an exception, downhillers (And I'm not talking about the bike of choice, more so the discipline) will almost always be faster going downhill than an "enduro" or all mtn rider...that's what they're specialized in...phat props to this winner though.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 19:35)
And by the way...you very well may be an exception to the rule (;
(Sep 21, 2014 at 19:40)
It was weird... There was no qualifying.
(Sep 22, 2014 at 0:16)
lelandjt . I totally agree with you i entered a Enduro race last month on a DH bike ! man was a crazy ride . i gained so much more understanding of the Enduro scene . they are tough son's of bitches
(Sep 21, 2014 at 12:37)
Wish they'd shown the lefty going through that top rock garden!
(Sep 21, 2014 at 20:22)
I saw him hit the rock garden and it was insane the speed he went throught it on that bike!
(Sep 23, 2014 at 14:41)
There a small clip here (1:06)
(Sep 21, 2014 at 11:35)
Dual slalom is an awesome event, why isn't this seen more?
Congrats to Marco for killin it on the lefty
(Sep 21, 2014 at 17:35)
Don't want anybody to take this in the wrong way but just because he was using a lefty doesn't make it any more special....
Im more stoked he won it on an all mountain/enduro bike!
(Sep 22, 2014 at 12:43)
It's more "special" because he beat DH racers, on DH bikes, on a DH course, using a 6" bike.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 11:39)
Fucking fuck yeah!!!! Lefty for the win!!!
(Sep 21, 2014 at 14:06)
Must have been all right-hand corners.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 15:48)
Being a MTBiker is about being well rounded at all disiplines of riding. IMO
(Sep 21, 2014 at 11:15)
kevin had an insanely good weekend, congrats to him!!!!!!!
(Sep 21, 2014 at 17:55)
Strong showing for Cody Johnson. nice work.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 17:03)
Props for Marco killing The Dh Elite with just half a Fork. Great recap
(Sep 21, 2014 at 11:12)
This is a bit more like dh this time, nice
(Sep 21, 2014 at 11:16)
an "enduro" bike won
(Sep 21, 2014 at 11:19)
You re right! But I didn t say this was dh ... It s looks more dh than the 10 XC riders' race
(Sep 21, 2014 at 11:37)
I thought the Pinnacle race turned out better then the course preview made it look. i know new ideas scare the MTB/ pink bike community, but with a little work i think that format would be pretty cool. maybe the WC could even add a round or 2 like that in there season, just to mix it up.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 11:37)
so the lefty wins the DH....say whaaa
(Sep 22, 2014 at 17:37)
It's the Indian, not the arrow...
(Sep 21, 2014 at 14:19)
Damn, Aiello with a 1/2. Nice.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 18:12)
holy smokes..! dual slalom is hot....
(Sep 21, 2014 at 19:41)
He'll yeah. And I realized why I like dual slalom so much more than 4x. In Dual, the two racers are both slamming the corners at full speed, riding as fast as they can. 4x is a lot more about 1 guy hitting the dialed line and the others having to deal with what they get. It's still takes skill no doubt, and can make for a good race, but two guys wheel to wheel slamming berms at 100% is sooo much more fun to watch!
(Sep 21, 2014 at 20:36)
When we went from dual to 4 cross I think the idea was good but it just didn't turn out good.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 21:18)
4x had good potential, but too often tracks were one line and didn't offer much for passing opportunities.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 13:11)
@RedBurn- since when do xc riders ride dh bikes at 60 mph over big jumps
(Sep 21, 2014 at 13:58)
As 1 of the 2 hecklers out there, I wish we made the video.
(Sep 21, 2014 at 18:34)
Good job to the "human highlighter"! xD
(Sep 21, 2014 at 23:16)
So rad!! Thanks for being out there and covering the event!
