Video: Finding Inner Peace Through Riding in 'Place of Solace'

Lying in bed, restless, jostling my fragmented clavicle into a tolerable location within my structure; I could only dream of escaping from this nightmare of a situation. With my body in disarray and thoughts teetering on delusion, I found myself lusting for the sense of satisfaction and freedom riding alone in a forest free of onlookers or outside influence can only gift, I drifted towards repose.

Occasionally our dreams parallel our own memories. The very memories we have constructed from the experiences we reluctantly put ourselves through. Cold days alone in the woods. Nights spent in remote locations. Riding trails we have never set tires on. Searching for that which nobody else desires in these moments, the trails and locations only populated in fair weather or perfect conditions. This is the experience of my dreams during these nightmarish nights.

For me, riding is about the only time I can fully clear my head. Once the heart rate is up and the trees start flying by I can find the focus needed to just ride, no mental "chatter that doesn't matter".

I'm gonna guess Oakridge, Oregon, but I really have no idea where this was filmed. Could be Washington, Oregon, northern California, or maybe even Idaho.

Spot on! Most of the video was filmed in the greater Oak Ridge area and some out near the coast of Oregon

@tstep3: Looked like a ton of fun and seems like a great Oakridge bike. BTW loved the road bike gap jump on the side of the road on Instagram. It's a legit gap but it looked like a super smooth landing, and I'm sure you melted everyone's brain in the pack.

Annnnnnnd what better place to have a fire... in the middle of the road?
  • 6 0
Thank you! It really is a great place because there are no fire hazards in the surrounding area, lots of space to move around the fire, and plus it was on a decommissioned/blocked off logging road so you are guaranteed to not get ran over hahaha

 Yeehaw!

@tstep3 I can assure you that is NOT a decommissioned road. Stored for future use, yes.
