Bike Party - It's not what you think...

OK, so likely nobody will even read this, but I had to get it off my chest.

I had no reason to "need" a new bike, or another bike, or whatever. My general purpose hardtail could use an upgrade, and I've really wanted a classier HT for many years. Unfortunately I went down the rabbit-hole and price kept going up-n-up until I settled on a 2022 Chameleon full 29er "AL R" build which is in the middle of the price range on those--NOT what I set out to initially spend, but how many of us can say that over and over.

I'm very excited because this thing is like as perfect of a hardtail as I could've hoped for and frankly to get to say that some folks spend a lot more than I did.. so.. And we need some lightness to the heaviness of life's difficulties around here so I had an idea. I'm having a "party" for the new bike!

It's really just a gag phony pretend party so my friends can get more laughs at how bike-obsessed I am (and believe me they all know it). I'm having yellow and purple balloons outside the front door and inside the house. I have some "gift bags" here with little party favor toys and I even went soooo far as to ORDER A CAKE! Yes, I ordered a cake with yellow frosting on top and "Santa Cruz" in purple frosting to match the bike of course. The neighbors are going to think someone had a baby or something LOL! I have these tiny bottles of champagne for the friends who like to drink, and the paper plates and cups are.. of course.. yellow and purple.

There'll only be a few people stopping by Friday and Saturday, and my elderly mother that I care for here will get a kick out of the g00fY-neSS of the whole thing--Lord knows SHE can use a little cheering up too. Now I'm writing this because I have a few folks I interact with in the forums that "if" they lived nearby would all be invited, and I'm not just saying that, I sincerely mean it. YOU know WHO you are (except for iffy lol). One of my regular riding friends is going with me to get it (he has bike racks), and when we get back we're going on it's very first ride. Nothing too special, just want to take it out for a spin and get the tires dirty. Friday was the first day with good weather in the Boston area and a convenient day for me to get away from responsibilities long enough to go for a short ride.

The funny part too is that ONLY a couple of friends even knew I was getting another bike even though this process took me about a month to complete. Most friends that know about the "party" don't even know what it's for!! THAT'S funny! So again I'd like for any of my PinkBike friends here to know that they really would've been invited. I'd also be curious to see if ANY of you have ever thrown a party for a new bike?

I'll likely take a few pic's of the beauty and put 'em up on PinkBike once my accessories are all in place. Most of it's ready but the bars haven't arrived from Deity yet, the chainring and EDC cap won't go on for a few days still etc. I hope you all throw parties for YOUR new bikes when YOU get them. Maybe this'll start a new trend or maybe people have thought of it before and I just didn't realize. I'm always looking for something g00fy to do or to get people to laugh outside their own dimension, and THIS seemed like a winner!

That was a great vid. He was riding the 2020. It's amazing at how many different riding disciplines this bike is used for and still delivers. I totally admit--a little pricey--but I couldn't find another hardtail that I felt this confident about.

Now don't forget to have a ParTy with CaKe and BaLLooNz for YOUR next bike!

sickest hardtail IMO SC Cameleon, even Harry Main has that too.
