A Day In The Life - Steve Storey

We came up with an idea late last season for every member of sheGNARnigans to self film a day in our lives. We set a few guidelines such as showing some of your daily activities outside of riding and that it be self filmed on a GoPro in a single day. Other than those two guidelines each member of the sheGNARnigans team was left to choose where and how they documented their day in the life.

You may notice some slightly different trail conditions between the helmet mount and static mount shots on this segment. I originally had it completed in a single day, but found that the helmet mount stuff didn't work and had to go back out 2 days later to redo it when the ground was slightly wetter.

Steve lives in Whistler and every now and again gets called down to work in Vancouver. He took this opportunity to film his "Day in the life..." on one of those work days, so he could capture a couple of his favourite trails to ride on the North Shore.

The whole day was filmed mid September. A far cry from the conditions now. This is Steve's "Day In The Life.."

This is such a great video! Working, riding, chillin' at the beach, drinking beer... that's how life should be.

In last part of the trees where it gets steep. I ripped my derailleur off right next to you and you and your buddy filming lent me a chain breaker.

Yeah, totally remember that. It was the last day of your trip or towards the end of your trip if I remember correctly.
  • 1 0
Yes it was, and right after I snapped my derailleur I got a flat on the lower section.

Cool Vid. The most epic part was that liquor store at then end... The ones around here smell like vomit and are usually old gas stations without the pumps any more hahaha

Sounds like you live in a lovely area. Do you have to lock your bike up to a tiger inside your house as well Wink

Actually I do live in a lovely town haha. This town in fact brevardnchome.com/news-events/bike-magazine-features-brevard-nc Just bible belt folks who tought liqour was the devil so they didnt want a big store and a few local rednecks but what good MTB community doesnt have them haha A tiger would be pretty bad ass and I am now considering buying one...

Nice, it seams like a good place for riding, especially if Bike Mag. is doing tests there and your tourism board invited them there. Sounds like you live in a good bike oriented community. It's funny too that one of your bike shop owners is on the city council......the guy that owned the best bike shop in my town is on our city council as well. He was on the council when he owned the shop as well but he retired and closed the shop to do bike tours of the "wine country", I wish it was still open. He's a great guy and is a friend of mine and I am very happy he has been on the city council for so long and he lives four doors down from me. Bike people are good people. Don't worry, my town is a farm community and wine region......we have our fair share of rednecks, they're actually some of my friends and favorite people. Rednecks=Entertainment. A tiger would be bad ass! Hit up Mike Tyson, I think he needs to unload some. Cheers Bro!

We do live in an amazing area. I've thought about the possibility of living elsewhere but I can't think of many places that would equal the opportunities here. I'm not sure what the first trail is called and I've never seen any signs around.

Thay trial is sick, so natural. Was both segmeants the same trail? How long d'you reckon it is?
  • 1 0
It was two separate trails. The first one is fairly long for a steep trail. I'm not really sure about any of the statistics of it. The second trail was Bobsled takes about 2 minutes and just under a kilometer long. Might have the distance wrong, just a guess.

Cheers, just wondering. I'm inspired to build by the first trail.

You'll want to find yourself an area with a decent amount of vertical and rock rolls.
