LAST CHANCE - Round 4: 2016 Photo of the Year - $10,000 Cash Prizing
OK, I'll accept that Paris's shot isn't a photoshop composite but then I won't accept that the riders are actually moving. A well hidden strobe will freeze the riders' motion but not the streams from their headlights. So how does one shoot at a slow enough exposure to get the details from the sky (and there sure looks to be a bit of motion blur with the stars from the slow shutter speed), and yet the riders' headlights are frozen? Easy, shoot riders who are balancing with their back legs down for balance. Hence why Gully looks like he's pedaling and KC is riding right-foot-forward instead of his left like he usually does. Rad shot for sure, but I suspect there's a reason this is the only one from the Iceland article that has the exif data hidden.

Except no. The amount and duration of light allowed into the camera does not turn skin purple, dirt green, and trees blue. That's achieved through piss poor post processing. #brobutitlookslikerealfilmbro

NZ sure is magical, where else are the trees and dirt a different color in every picture.

Photo of the Year 2015: Five Minutes With the Finalists
A 1DX isn't expensive because it takes better photos, the difference in quality between it and a 7D is rather negligible (especially at web resolution and standard print sizes). It's a 'better' camera because it's highly durable, weather sealed, and has internal components meant to crank out 100's of thousands of photos a year while getting abused. It's a better tool for the job for a photo journalist because it's a workhorse, not because it necessarily takes prettier photos.

Just another roost shot, just another dirt jump shot with scenery, just another Queenstown shot, just another MTB shot. It's like you forgot what website you're looking at ;)

Another round another set of complaints about the selections. That 'roost' shot has about as much in common the highly staged, studio-lit winner of 2013 as it does a ride in the park. It drips with a sense of speed an aggression that attempts at similar shots tend to lack. It doesn't mean you have to like it, but the constant negativity in the comments about so many of these shots if they aren't your particular favorite misses the point of enjoying such a huge selection of rad photos. As for winning 'every year' here's a link to the past 4 winners.
