Sombrio is pleased to announce the launch of #LUXURYOFDIRT, a contest showcasing the brand’s passion for life on two wheels. The brand, together with Sombrio sponsored riders, such as Darren “The Claw” Berrecloth, will share their #LUXURYOFDIRT stories (through a series of 4 webisodes) with mountain biking communities world-wide. Sombrio will ask its audience to engage by sharing their very own #LUXURYOFDIRT stories online with a chance to win great prizes.

Darren Berrecloth

According to Freeride athlete and Sombrio Cartel team member Darren Berrecloth, #LUXURYOFDIRT is all about “the smell of cedar and mud, creativity and imagination, grimy fingernails and calloused hands. It’s about the challenge and the fear. It’s about the freedom.” As each webisode is released, fans and consumers will learn what #LUXURYOFDIRT means to other Sombrio Cartel athletes such as Jill Kintner, Bryn Atkinson and Katie Holden.

Darren Berrecloth

Sombrio, in partnership with Big Mountain Bike Adventures, will give away an exclusive 4-day mountain bike trip for 2 to explore the Sea-to-Sky Corridor and experience the best of Whistler, Squamish, Pemberton and Vancouver’s world-famous North Shore as well as $1,000 in brand new 2015 Sombrio gear. The trip includes: 3 nights’ accommodation, 4 days of privately guided riding, all meals and transportation along with a guest appearance from a Sombrio team rider.

Entering the contest is easy. Consumers are asked to visit www.facebook.com/sombriocartel, like Sombrio, and fill out the entry from sharing their #LUXURYOFDIRT with Sombrio. Once entered, fans will receive a promo code for 10% off their next order on www.sombriocartel.com.

Fans will also have more chances to win on Instagram. Every Wednesday through April 22, Sombrio will be giving away “The Claw’s” signature kit – the Disciple Jersey and Pinner Shorts. To enter the weekly giveaway, consumers can post a photo showing Sombrio their #LUXURYOFDIRT on Instagram and include the #LUXURYOFDIRT plus tag and follow @SombrioCartel. Then on April 29, the winner of the Grand Prize trip will be selected.

The #LUXURYOFDIRT contest celebrates Sombrio’s deep-rooted passion for bike culture.

Sombrio was created out of the need to fill a void for gear that could stand up to the rigors of mountain biking. It has been at the forefront of the sport since its inception in 1998, blending fashion and function to bring a truly unique product to the market. Sombrio offers gear that is specifically designed for the fashion-forward mountain biker, and after 17 years of innovation, the brand remains true to its core.

“We are excited to launch this contest in partnership with our athletes,” said Jaime Williams, Director of Marketing at Sombrio. “Each video showcases not only their specific mountain bike discipline, but also their individual #LUXURYOFDIRT stories.”

The #LUXURYOFDIRT contest will be available to fans across North America. For more contest details, check out the brand on Facebook and Instagram @SombrioCartel. To learn more about Sombrio, visit the brand at www.sombriocartel.com.

I thought the title said "share your stories for a chance to win a Sombrero" and was about to share my stories and win that damn Sombrero. Then I re read it and was like eh, never mind.

This whole hashtag marketing thing needs to go away. Like right f-ing now. (On rocking chair, clutching shotgun, yelling at those damn kids to get off my lawn...)

Seriously, though, this is a nice promotion, with some great footage. They're doing so many things right. But WTF is up with #luxuryofdirt? That's the best way to express the passion all the people involved feel for the sport? Yep, I must be getting old...

Interesting to see Berrecloth is partnering with Big Mountain Bike Adventures. Didn't he recently start Global Epix? I know he has a history with BMBA, with them outfitting many of the trips in The Collective and Anthill and others movies, but thought he'd be pushing his own venture now.

@Jeromev The Claw is not partnering with Big Mountain Bike Adventures. They been a long-time partner of Sombrio and are offering a unique experience in Sombrio's backyard for this contest. There will of course be a guest appearance from another Sombrio Cartel team rider. Darren is still going strong with Global Epix and we look forward to working with them in the future.

If you want people to invest time and interest into your company don't treat us like statistics. Did you see what GoPro did a few weeks ago? They asked everyone to go out and make the best one minute, unedited video they could. It seemed pretty successful to me. If I had a GoPro I would have made one. Because they were asking their consumer to invest in something. They were asking us to create something meaningful to us that we could share with them and maybe, just maybe, the company would see it the same way and we could win something. If you want an investment from us, make an investment in us. Invest in your clientele. Give us your time and attention and we will give you ours. If you want stories, you will have stories. Hundreds of them I bet, because what mountain biker doesn't have at least a half dozen incredible ones? Ask us for a little piece of our lives that we'd be willing to share with you. Most of us here would do so gladly. Just don't bother asking me for my "like" and my "follow" and my "hashtag". I honestly couldn't care less.
