Fun Can't Make You Faster - Fun is just a three-letter word for distraction. In this day and age of racing, you have to be focused, dedicated and willing to sacrifice anything that will get in the way of you and the top step of that podium. Fun may be the reason you threw a leg over your bike and charged it down the scariest, fastest and biggest lines you could in the first place, but fun alone can’t make you faster. Having fun on your bike may give us an escape from the every day mundane, fun may give you a chance to experience something that many are not brave enough to attempt, but fun can’t make you faster.

Troy Brosnan walked away from the last round of the UCI World Cup Downhill as the new Overall leader going into the recent month long break. He has spent that last month having nothing but fun on his bike. Exploring new terrain, challenging himself to new environments and conditions, pushing harder than ever…all in the sprit of fun. As Troy enters the next round of the World Cup this weekend in Mont Saint Anne, he will do so for the first time with all eyes on him – as the leader, not a follower. A leader who has been out having nothing but fun doing what he loves on two wheels. But fun can’t make you faster.

 Oh no, a 15 year old found a photo of me riding from a couple of years back, I'm going to have to cry myself to sleep tonight.
I never claimed to be different, but you two arguing over who has the best whips is probably one of the stupidest things I'll read today.

Am I really the only one who's bored of seeing videos of downhill racers just throwing whips all over the place? It's boring.

 @wuzupjosh @bikeman21, i ride my whips out sideways as prefference rather than ability. I can bring it back, but why sacrifice steeze if i dont have to? I just prefer this, plus rolling out of this style landing helps to kinda pump into the next,jump or whatever. Abd yeah, i am completely self sponsored, my bike is all me

 I have no idea if having fun makes you go faster but this edit certainly makes me want to f*cking try. That was an incredibly well put together edit and that gap in the woods (2nd to last shot?) was unreal.

 When you are a competitive person it's so easy to allow yourself get sucked into worrying about wining or good results too much and forgetting the most important part of why you even wanted to ride in the first place - That awesome feeling of freedom, adrenaline, and having fun ripping down amazing trails though some of the coolest forests or mountains the world has to offer on your bike.

 I see what SRAM is going for (they're pairing "Fun can't make you faster" with "prove can't wrong" to say fun CAN make you fast), but I don't think they conveyed it very clearly... as evidenced by all the people in these comments who disagree with the title.

 this is probably the best bike movie i've ever seen. There's so much nature, flow, action, dust, fun and kind of a love to the sport in this video, so that it hits myself in a pretty emotional way. Thank you for this masterpiece.

 I really didn't see where they were going with that until the last sentence. I don't think anybody ever claimed that having fun cannot make you faster, so they built a marketing campaign on a "fact" that doesn't really exist in the DH/FR world, which is what confused people a little I think. Might have worked for road/XC but not in this market segment. It sounds like they either tried wayyyy too hard or the sram marketing department aren't really in touch with DH/FR world.

 err, they rode the first two races on an xc bike for a start. and then moved on to a 650 converted bike that you cant buy. so although the demo is a good bike imo, it is nowhere near the top uci ranking bike. i dont think its even top 20
