Atomik Debuts New Technologies in Carbon Wheelsets
Foam cores have been used in some carbon rims on road bikes for many years. Probably most notably with Mavic, Corima and Lightweight. Possibly 20 years even.
Soul Kozak currently make hubs with a magnetic freewheel mechanism and Tune have experimented with it in the past as well.
