Video: Fleur TK on Riding a Pink Bike, Racing Sailboats Professionally, & Discovering the MTB Community

Words: Starling Cycles

Starling Cycles rider Fleur Ter Kuile is a real one-off.

By day, Fleur is an ambulance driver and student paramedic. If you've not seen her racing round Bristol, UK with the blues-and-twos wailing, she might well have patched you up at Dyfi Bike Park.

Before training to save lives, she spent over a decade risking her own, racing yachts around the world and getting into more than a few sticky situations on the high seas.

And, of course, she absolute shreds on that pink Swoop of hers. Loose as a goose, not afraid to hit the big jumps and totally in love with scaring the shit out of herself on the high-speed and technical stuff. Perfect for the Starling Cycles crew!

This video was produced with the generous support of Öhlins.

Goddamn, these lockdown newbies who already shred are even more demoralizing than the groms!

Just kidding (well, mostly). This is awesome. And how fast she's progressed sort of goes to show how much the women's side of the sport stands to progress in general if more women give MTB a shot. Camille Balanche had been riding for...what, four years before she bagged her first world cup podiums? There's clearly a ton of talent out there just waiting for the notion to hop on a bike.

Not a bad way to spend your twenties..
I've spent most of my life sailing or working on yachts and then, 9 years ago, I moved to Switzerland. Sometimes I miss boats so much..

Nice video though Wink

It may be just me, but seeing external housing on a bike is just damn sexy to me. Or is it the fact that I'm an MTB'r from the 80's and I just don't like change.

Well, with that bike, this is the right site to promote it Smile Cool video, with some pretty kick-ass riding but the type I can relate to, not the insane Rampage-like stuff that I know I will never even try. And people just heading out and having fun. Enjoyed it!

The official Dutch version should be "Fleur ter Kuile", the way the editor wrote her name in the above article is the Belgian way of spelling a surname.
