by Steel City Media

Brought to you by Maxxis Tires, we're proud to release Connor Fearon's heavy hitting segment from GAMBLE fillm.

Available now on: Itunes Google Play Amazon VImeo

With a duet like 'Cancer Bat's' and Retallack resort, Connor was given the tools for an on-screen symphony, ripping apart corners and trail, giving you barely a chance to catch a breath.

On set For GAMBLE Film

Connor called Retallack for his segment before we could even ask, much to Finn's disappointment and we don't blame him.

 Good reference, good name @gossman:
  • + 4
@cooki3s: He's second name should have been Fearoff actually Wink
  • + 2
@preach just let off the brakes more
  • + 2
@cooki3s: if I was a corner I'd get my fear on every time he was coming!
  • + 1
@gossman: You mean you don't keep score? How do you measure yourself against other golfers? -"My height."
  • + 29
 "Doesn't slow down for corners"
  • + 20
Just riding in a straight line, bending space and time etc
  • + 13
And THIS is how to properly hit a corner. No little side kick wiggles in the middle of the turn. Proper berm smashing at its finest!
  • + 12
 Corner Fearin'
  • + 5
Is there a help line or something for those corners to call after Conner just @#$&ed them so hard?
  • + 27
The scrub over the roller has to be R18. Absolutely filthy riding.
  • + 12
That right hander to manual to left hander @ 1:05... jesus f*cking christ
  • + 3
@Ride12: Tight Left at 1:34, G forces must have been nuts!

  • + 19
Kovarik cornering! Must be an Aussie thing.
  • + 36
I must have missed school the day they were teaching how to corner that hard
  • + 1
Dude! They need to make an edit together.........would be so sick. All I could think of throughout the whole vid!
  • + 1
Dude the trail would be obliterated by them!
  • + 13
I wonder if Connor is confused by what those two levers on his handlebar do?
  • + 2
Conner thinking before the run... hmm I’m going to have hit these corners hard to make it down with no brakes
  • + 11
Dear Satan, I will do many nasty things in your name if you grant me the power to corner like Conner. Sincerely, Yuley
  • + 12
 Conor NO Fear on
  • + 5
I see what you did there. Approved!
  • + 4
He spent such a long time on the cornering Process that he became one smooth Operator
  • + 6
Well it's videos like this that make me realise just how skilled and fast those top level pros are. Someone said before about feeling fast and then watching this but jeez this is just unreal. And what a breathtakingly beautiful place. The section where it's filmed in slo-mo and the back wheel is just breaking free and he takes his inside foot off, realises it's all ok and finds the pedal whilst still geeing out mid corner just shows how in touch with the bike and almost primaeval the reacitons are to be able to pilot a bike that fast down that track. They should get those guys off Youtube who do all the ultra high frame rate filming to fillm some of those turns, it would be fascinating to see what the tyres and suspension are all doing through those curves. Simply awesome.
  • + 8
Goddamn - those trails should be covered in bruises after being ridden that hard!
  • + 5
I've really been trying to focus on my cornering . Also on flats. Is tapping the foot down a last resort once a rider breaks traction, or is there a technique to that?
  • + 1
 Bump for same question
  • + 4
In my experience a foot dab can put more weight onto the inside of your tires and thus more grip. Also I find with roosting it helps a lot as its easier to throw the rear wheel into the corner while maintaining grip in the front. But i'm just a keyboard warrior so what do I know
  • + 6
For me, it's either a) dabbing after a loss of traction, or b) when coming into a corner with more speed than I'm certain I can hold, with expectation of a slide(into a berm) or tripod(flatter corner). Connor does both in this edit, but watching him dab into the right hand berm, it looks like he's adapting to the rise/roller in the trail, just before it.
  • + 15
Imo it's being able to lean the bike over more with your foot off and having the dab available if you've overcooked it.
  • + 4
 that's just "leg swag"
  • + 2
 I'd say situational/both tbh.

You always want to keep your feet on the pedals generally for control and speed etc, but using the foot to move your weight around a little more to make the bike corner sharper or just lighten up the rear so it slides better/easier does have its merits.

So experiment with it, but I'd say only take the foot off intentionally if you're fully intending to try some sick slidey-turn cutty-fun stuff
  • + 2
One thing I've found helpful if you're on flats is to consciously focus on not caring as much about where your foot is on the pedal. I used to be obsessed about it being in the perfect position in and out of corners, but if you stop caring about that and have your foot right on the edge of the pedal in those situations then it's ready to dab down quickly
  • + 1
@vtracer: Correct, this is what we were taught to do when we used to race moto x - MANY MOONS ago
  • + 1
Depends what you are referring to and what riding style. It's not common to see DH riders dapping in race runs unless they make a mistake, but it's very common in enduro for clipped or unclipped riders to use their feet to help get around tight switchbacks or off camber corners. Some of the DH guys will however hang a foot out beside their fork leg in open grassy corners to help weight the front wheel. You can see some of them doing it in the last corners of La Bresse. Interestingly I also noticed Maes, an enduro rider who won the DH race there, dabbing in a corner mid track, but that was possibly just a save.
  • + 1
I have noticed that when i dab my foot down i corner harder and lose more traction on both weels. Good for sharp corners. For longer ones just put youre heels down, ald you will loose just the traction of rear wheel.
  • + 1
 My heels* sry
  • + 2
Not a last resort at all, if your a frequenter of flats then foot dabbing will become second nature, you don’t have to worry about the tires breaking loose the same way you have to with clips, foot dabbing is a natural part of riding flats, just look at the motocross world
  • + 1
@mkotowski1: you can still dab on clips, just takes some practice
  • + 1
@vtracer: will never be as quick and fluid, one of the few advantages of flats is the ability to endlessly change your foot position whether that be dabbing or shifting your weight. It’s also one of the negatives in some situations. Clips have many advantages as well
  • + 6
All hail the Flat Pedal Thunder Brigade!!
  • + 5
Hot dayum that dude can ride a bike!
  • + 5
cancer bats....best canadiand band ever. after Justin obviously.
  • + 1
Had there not been drone and super slow mo shots of him, you could've blinked while watching connor there, and missed him completely! trees must wonder what the fu*k just went by them!!
  • + 4
What I would give to Connor like Fearon.
  • + 5
 Hell yeah!
  • + 1
I wonder how long a set of tires last under him. Imagine his center lugs are doing just fine as he clearly doesn't brake but those side lugs have to have a pretty short life span...
  • + 1
Konnar killing it on the Kona... What about the guns on the big fella when he is wrenching on the lorry?? He must of ripped the sleeves off the flanny to give them some room to breath!!
#kornerking
  • + 3
He tore those corners a new anus. Like a new school kovarik but faster, awesome riding. Also metal sucks.
  • + 2
YES! This is how ALL mtb videos should be!! Fast, hard and ripping with music to back it. This vid makes me want to shred harder than I can or kick some ISIS ass, now...
  • + 1
 Yessss!!! Flat pedal thunder brigade.
f*ckin’ balls out shreddin’ and not a stupid flip trick to be seen. More of this please.
  • + 1
He is sick for sure... he's one of the worlds best. I'd love to see how he compares to say Arron Gwin or Amaury Pierron who really are, literally the worlds best
  • + 2
So raw, so metal. His riding style is so sick. Its only a matter of time 'til he gets a podium.
  • + 4
or another one for that matter. Wink
  • + 2
he was 2nd in Leogang in 2015, with a loss of less than 5 hundreths of a second
  • + 2
@nhp890: he was beaten by gwin with no chain. Nuts
  • + 2
Wow, like everyone else here, I just vowed to go practice berms for hours on end.
  • + 3
Man, I wish he won Andorra last year. He could be where he should be now
  • + 1
Damn it why arent there more vids like this? Heavy music and bad ass corner slaming! Will be watched a few times
  • + 2
It is not good to be a corner when Connor is on the track.
  • + 3
 *made it talk
  • + 2
 Bringing back NWD memories!!!
  • + 1
If I could watch Connor Fearon all day, I would be very happy. (And Danny Mac, and Gwin's scrub, and a couple others...)
  • + 3
 So sick!
  • + 2
The Con control the bike the bike don't control the Con
  • + 1
Only thing is I can't add it to my PB favorite videos because it's on YouTube. haha. I was glued. Sick vid.
  • + 3
 Kona Fearon is a Beast!
  • + 2
For the love of God, can someone teach me to corner like that?
  • + 1
More weight on the front tire. Especially with slacker HT angles on a DH bike. He is really diving into the berms. When I ride steep technical stuff, it feels like I'm riding a unicycle under the bars, and the rear wheel is just a dummy following along. Trust it will hook up and get yer lean/ counter-steer on.
  • + 1
After watching this I really need to work on my cornering skills. Something to aspire to
  • + 1
Holy crap..is he riding really fast, or are my Old eyes seeing things..? At any rate, great stuff, was Fun to watch. !!!
  • + 1
i feel sorry for the tires.
  • + 1
Fuuuuuuuh, now that's how you start a Friday! Dude rips!
  • + 1
Didn’t he do this with a broken hand too?
  • + 2
 Yep broken finger!!
  • + 1
Warp speeding corners. Cheers Connor that was awesome to see
  • + 1
So good! Tear it up at Worlds Connor!
  • + 1
Finnaly some NWD music! I feel nostalgic.
  • + 1
Reminds me of that Motörheady George Brannigan-Vid.
  • + 1
It’s too loud and I’m too old.

Nutso riding, though.
  • + 1
Heavy Metal was a staple music choice in the old days... Wink
  • + 1
Hot damn that was dope!! Connor is such a pinner!!!

K'nell. No wonder the scene following this seemed pedestrian.

That Number 5 looks just as good as in a dirt scooter
