Here's a little insight into what it's like to race an Enduro World Series. Myself and Tom Makin of the Steve Peat Syndicate headed out to this little island in the Atlantic to race on some of the most epic stages we've ever seen. This would be our first time racing at an EWS, so we were excited to head out and see what it takes to race at this level.
The week started with two days of shuttle training by Freeride Madeira. After getting the chance to ride all the stages we soon learned that this was not like any UK race, Stage 3 was over ten minutes long and featured plenty of greasy rock gardens—a brutal test of fitness, strength, and equipment. Race day soon came around and we were ready to take on the two big days of racing ahead. Unfortunately, I crashed on the first stage of day two which snapped my Go Pro off so there's no footage of the final three stages but we got plenty of action from day one.
It was one of the best weeks of riding I've ever experienced and can't wait to take on the next round in Ireland.
