PRESS RELEASE: YT MOB

It's official. Off the back of a dominant season, the YT MOB welcomes one of the fastest names in downhill back into its ranks. Vali and YT go way back. In 2013, she signed her first contract with us aged just 13, and in the six years that followed, she racked up two Junior World Championship titles and a World Cup overall win aboard the TUES. She was unstoppable and, alongside fellow Junior World champ Oisin O'Callaghan and Sian A'hern, the MOB looks dangerous for the '24 season.

Vali Höll. Oisin O'Callaghan. Sian A'Hern. This team is set and ready for the start gate. Returning to the YT MOB, Vali is no stranger to the TUES and, through the UNCAGED approach, she decided to complete her build with RockShox suspension and SRAM components. Oisin and Sian remain on their choice of FOX suspension, as is their preference.

bigquotesIt’s amazing to come back into the family. I feel at home, and I can see how hyped YT is to push the race team. The next couple of years will be rad. The TUES was definitely easy to get used to. It’s the bike I learned my basics on and made some great memories with in juniors. I’m happy to tackle something new. I could have stayed in my comfort zone and kept doing what I’m doing, but I think I’m at a perfect age where I can try something new and make the next step.Vali Höll, YT Mob Downhill Athlete

bigquotesRider reunions are rare. They don't often return to a brand, which makes this homecoming even more special. It means a lot to us both. I'm stoked to continue the history we already created together. Welcome home, Vali!Markus Flossmann, Founder and CVO of YT Industries

bigquotesI'm excited to be going into my fifth season with the YT MOB! Off the back of last year's win, I'm definitely looking to follow it up with some more solid results and consistency throughout the season.Oisin O'Callaghan, YT Mob Downhill Athlete

bigquotesIt's really exciting having Vali on the team this year! I feel I have so much to learn from her, and having another girl on the team is epic. We get along well, and it's a cool dynamic. It's my dream for us to share a World Cup podium this year.Sian A'Hern, YT Mob Downhill Athlete

YT has the talent and the tools to leave a legacy, and it's time to roll the dice. The team kicks things off in Australia, dialing in their racecraft for the season ahead, before heading to the Highlands for the Fort William World Cup in May. Keep an eye on the YT MOB Youtube and Instagram channels to catch all the action, and never miss a beat. See you on the track.

More women than men on a UCI DH team - props to YT for driving the sport in the right direction with support for the ladies!

Fully stoked about that fact - and also fully stoked for Vali on Moi Moi TV!

All for more women on bikes but why exactly does that mean the sport is going in the right direction, should all UCI DH teams be required to have more women than men on their team? Is that where you think the sport should go?
  • 37 5
@jamesbracht: you do not know what woke means, maybe you should start watching less TV, you will feel that hate leaving your body Big Grin
  • 43 1
@Garantson: All that's being said here is that its great to see women being supported in world cup DH. Only a few years ago, the women's field was an afterthought. Seeing this attitude shift means there's more opportunities for women to ride bikes, better competition for them, and for us, more racing to watch. No one is saying that we should do away with a men's division or mandate teams have more women than men as a rule, it's literally just that we can appreciate that women's DH is getting the love and sponsorship it deserves and that's cool as f**k

Need clarification. Right direction? What is exactly wrong with helping talented young professionals, asking them to stand out for merit, not what hangs or dont between their legs?
  • 12 3
@Garantson: why are you like this?
  • 5 3
There's less competitors on the women's field so your chances of winning the overall is higher. Smart move for sure.

@BobbyHillbomb:Why are you guys like this? I stand with @Garantson.... No one is saying Woman don't have a place but you guys are suggesting they should be dominate as a team unit, and this is the direction it should be headed. Thats just total foolishness and a Woke type of BS idea.
  • 20 3
@likeittacky: that is not what anyone is saying here. I'm not even going to expand on that since you can't seem to comprehend what you're reading. Go cry elsewhere.
  • 2 0
@pugafi: Well if they were going in the wrong direction, that'd be called pedaling uphill.
  • 4 1
@Venturebikes: Someone gets the right idea! Im not asking for quotas here, I just like watching a strong field for both mens and women DH and YT is playing their part!
  • 4 0
@Garantson:Cross purposes here - the 'driving the support in the right direction' part was directed at the fact YT have stepped up and helped sustain/grow a stronger field of pro women's racing (great for the fans!) - the fact there are more ladies than guys on the team was just a cool fact which hasn't happened on a big team in DH for a long time!  Wait what? what are the feminists going to complain about now? Is the gender pay gap going to be in favour of the female gender ? no wayyyyy, tough times for the patriarchy ........ (either way i bet the feminists find something else to bitch about, just wait)

@axelerate: This is an under rated comment!
Props bruh

@flashypaintjob: I like the idea that all teams competing in whatever segment of UCi racing should employ
1 male junior
1 female junior
1 male elite
1 female elite
as a minimum.
  • 2 2
@onawalk: Why? teams should employ the riders they want.
  • 2 2
why that fact is the right direction? That means to have more men that women in the team is the wrong direction? Don't you think is only about numbers? more men than women racing DH means the teams will have more men than women riders in the team...Is just about numbers, is not about good or wrong direction.
  • 1 0
@Garantson: I think its a good idea, it provides support for juniors thats lacking at the moment.
It would make for a competitive field of riders in all 4 classes.
It provides/fosters leadership roles, and learning for all.
It creates a field of supported, competitive riders, which is what we want to see, and it pushes the sport in a positive direction.

Teams can still employ the riders they want, theres nothing stopping that, that isnt currently a barrier for them

Vali on RS and the rest of the team on fox ... interesting ! A split team when it comes to suspension is not something i can remember seeing in a top team the last years.

 Everything for performance.
  • 5 1
Might be easier to learn a new frame that way. Keep everything else the same so comfort comes quicker.
  • 11 1
I think the YT enduro team allows their riders to choose their components? Maybe it’s a similar setup.
  • 96 1
@fozzyfoz: Yes, exactly. Our Live Uncaged philosophy allows riders to pick their components based on their preference.

 @The-YT-Mob: This is the way.

I could see this being problematic on a lot of teams but I'm sure Vali is working directly with Rockshox at the races for suspension service vs relying on her team mechanic and parts stock.
  • 3 0
Might be the case as well with Norco DH team as Minaar prefers Fox
  • 2 0
She remained with SRAM because this is what she has been riding her whole career and is one of the first riders that get's the chance to ride prototype stuff , also i think no team would've said no to her and the SRAM package .

@The-YT-Mob: you guys are absolute Chads. Can't wait to see the team perform this season!

Let’s be honest there was no way Stan were letting her go, they literally built the last team for her

Really happy for YT to get a rider of this level on their team. Hopefully Vali can continue her success here!

  • 89 0
 Coming WEDS.
  • 19 1
I hope they keep the old one for now. I remember at Snowshoe this year: "who would win? a carbon lugged bike with some crazy suspension design costing thousands (Specialized) or a 5 year old bike that costs $2k MSRP?" Osin with the biggest bike tech troll and I'm here for it lol.
  • 1 0
The Mob had some bike with bags over the kinematics recently in SoCal where the pics in this article were taken. Not sure if that means there is a new TUES, but the current model is a proven winner for now...
