4X ProTour is back in Jablonec, Czech Republic and what a few days it has been so far. Rain, rain and more rain has been the story of the week so far, with practice on Thursday cancelled so that the track could be worked on. Luckily for today's qualifying session, the clouds parted and the rain stopped. Initially, the woods section was extremely slippery and the riders were finding it tricky, but after 2 hours of practice, the track was riding well.
The track crew here have worked overtime and at 18.00 tonight, riders had a dry track ready to go.
In the women's it was Helene Fruhwirth taking the fastest time ahead of Romana Labounkova and Natasha Bradley taking the top 3 positions.
In the men's it was local hero and crowd favourite Tomas Slavik who once again showed why he is the king of JBC by taking the fastest time ahead of his teammate Felix Beckeman and track specialist Hynes Strouha. Mistakes were costly for Hannes Slavik and Quentin Derbier which will certainly spice up the early rounds of racing tomorrow.
With sunshine forecast for the racing on Saturday and the track now in absolutely perfect condition, we are all set for the action to start.
Stay tuned to PinbbBike for the course preview launching later tonight and the full race report tomorrow.
