Rachel Atherton raced her trail bike, as did most of the ladies at the event. There were even a few hardtails!

Klara Gunnarson happened to be over in the UK from Norway so she decided to take part in Foxhunt. She normally rides a hardtail, however, Starling had just given her a new bike. This is her first full suspension bike. She loves it.

photo
Lisa Maunder was on a borrowed bike from her husband.

Another enduro bike. Nia Baylis is very happy with it. She said "It's a great all round bike. From a long day out to more technical tracks."

photo
Courtney Abbiss raced her downhill bike - the Orange Alpine 6.

One girl who always has a pimped up bike is Laura Griffith. She said her Orbea Rallon is the most comfortable bike she has ever ridden. From day one, she got on with it perfectly.

photo
A broken finger from Saturday practice meant that Gill Harris couldn't ride her bike. She lent it to Sumayyah Green who had been riding on XC bike that was too big for her.

 That Swoop is so nice.

I love the community spirit of bike events, can't ride? lend your bike to someone who doesn't have a decent steed.

In the Uk they used to hunt foxes (the animals) on horse back.. but it's been stopped now as the foxes kept falling off the horses..

TORY fears of a brutal fox insurgency are growing after one of them was spotted trying to ride a horse.

Martin Bishop, a big fat Tory who farms eight million acres near Asterley in Shropshire, said: “It was all a bit haphazard. He obviously didn’t know where to put his back legs and he kept falling off.

“But he was wearing a little hat, so they obviously know about equestrian safety. I’ll tell you what, once these buggers get the hang of it, I am a dead man walking.”

Bill McKay, assistant chief constable of Shropshire Police, said: “I would advise Tories to stay indoors unless they’re very good at hiding in hedgerows or able to leave some kind of false scent.

“But if a Tory does find yourself in open countryside with a group of mounted foxes hurtling towards it, either pretend to be a tree or try digging a hole really, really quickly.”

Professor Henry Brubaker, of the Institute for Studies, said: “There is no more dangerous combination in all of nature than a fox who knows how to ride a horse.

“It would be fascinating to see a group of mounted foxes up close. I wonder if they’ll be twats?”

Sadly the hunting of foxes in a gratuitous fashion is still very much going on. It's like a load of us went on a group ride with some trail dogs and because that wasn't satisfying enough we had to sacrifice someone's cat at the end of it. Fookin idiots all of them.
  • 13 0
@Braindrain: yeah I agree but to be fair cats are f*ckin evil, never trust one
  • 5 1
@Braindrain: Ever seen a fox tear apart one of the Queen's swans?? Ehhh, gross. #nature
  • 4 1
@yupstate: because a fox kills a swan for survival means it's OK for a human to train a dog to kill a fox for fun?
  • 4 1
@Braindrain: See I just thought the dog was saving the swan. I like how everyone is part of the food chain except humans. I know i know..."we are the virus". Yes we're all so terrible. I get it. Let those foxes live, you didn't ever want to see another rabbit again did you? Ok good then you're all set. But yes, we don't need to eat the fox. I'll show you my neighbors chicken, fully intact except its head is gone. I guess the fox just wanted the head to mount on its wall?
  • 3 0
@yupstate: It wasn't the fox, it was your neighbour. *cue music from Deliverance

@vapidoscar: See, it's easy to be a bleeding-heart until you see your beloved Fluffy mangled on your front porch. Do they have coyotes in England or wolves? I know London has a Werewolf.

Just spent a week in the alps on a 324 and what a bike it was. Wasn't really expecting to like so much tbh
  • 4 0
Yeah, I love Orange too. This is the first time though I see an article that mentions the Alpine 6 is a downhill bike. Or is it actually quoted from Courtney who may use this very bike for typical DH racing?
  • 4 0
@vinay: that she does, she had a 324 for a while but sold it. We have an ongoing joke as she loves Orange and I love Empire (I’m her uncle), she also rides a Santa Cruz Jackal for 4x

 Biker chicks rule.

Transition color scheme looks good in real life, never ever see toros or any other hutchinson tire in real life. Nice to see dvo stuff, even better if paired with a topaz rear shock like the on the starling

OT: recently left tried and true dhf/dhrII combo for xr4/xr3 on one bike and agressor/forekaster on other bike and getting along well for trail stuff loose/loose over hard/hard not very steep. Anyone experience with toros ans intermediate trail tire?

You know what I've been finding? I see these bicycles on the internet, and I point out all sorts of problems with them, then when I see them in real life they're magnificent. I wouldn't buy a bicycle in person.

That Orbea is so nice Drool

I have that same bike..I'm usually a black bike guy but the matte deep purple is sick. Unfortunately the large is a little small

 Where is the winners bike?

 The winner was probably Portuguese...

 My thought exactly!

When your wife steals your bike to shred it against Rachel Atherton, is it good or bad for me?
  • 5 0
 Show the winner's bike, please.
  • 2 0
think its awesome to see other bikes rather then the winners all the time..

From what I can tell, it looks to be a '16 Giant Reign - alum.

Is an Orange Alpine 6 actually a downhill bike?
  • 2 0
No, Orange 324 is though, lol. Good Catch. Too bad you did not show Becky Wareing's Alpine...
  • 1 0
the forks were a give away too
  • 5 0
Good on Gill Harris for lending out to Sumayyah Green while injured.

The black Trek Fuel is an enduro bike now? I think I just gained 27% more confidence riding my own fuel
  • 2 0
Nice to see real world rides. I was so used to see all the newest and barely used bikes, having a bike thats a couple of months old made me feel like I was on an "old" bike.
  • 1 1
The sensitivity that the "internet" entails is amazing. No other place other than the actual human mind of a real crazed schizophrenic does there exist such contrasts. Unable to understand humor should be a serious offense, it shows that the mind might not be working on a healthy level. "Not being able to understand you, they will hate you"

You talk of respect for all others in your profile then speak in complete disrespect of these women. It's one thing to joke like that with a friend in person, it's another to publicly speak where all (including these women) can see. If you were one of these women, how do you think you would feel about your initial comment?
Now back to the depths of below threshold comments with you.
