The Rise of Enduro Poster

We are excited to announce The Rise of Enduro, a sports documentary film showcasing enduro mountain biking, the history of the sport, its exponential growth in recent years and a look at the high-tech equipment that makes the sport possible today. The Rise of Enduro is presented by Shimano and is produced in association with Pinkbike, Enve, Maxxis, Marin Bikes and with support from Ergon, Yakima, and Cane Creek. The film will follow a cast of the world’s top enduro athletes through the 2014 Enduro World Series and the North American Enduro Tour. Using interviews with top enduro athletes, event promoters and industry leaders, as well as plenty of riding footage, we will tell the story behind the rise in popularity of the sport and the thrill of enduro racing.

Follow the action with riders: Kyle Warner, Jerome Clementz, Dylan Wolsky, Chris Johnston, Ben Cruz, Adam Craig, Jared Graves, Aaron Bradford, Curtis Keene, Josh Carlson, Yoann Barelli, Cedric Gracia, Lars Sternberg, Marco Osborne, Mark Weir, and more.

Check out the first Behind the Scenes Episode with Kyle Warner, Ben Cruz, Mark Weir and Marco Osborne in Marin County, California (birth place of Mountain Biking). Including a bonus riding segment with Ben and Marco.

Is it typical in Enduro to have a top heavy woman mounted on your handlebars?

A collaboration between Garmin and Victoria Secret or something?
  • + 47
i bought one of those Smith helmets just in case.
  • + 32
It also drops your front travel to 120mm so that you can go even faster.

 Where is the other leg?

XC just got a whole lot more interesting

kootenaycycle she must be a Canondale
  • + 6
Notice how she picked the bike without the leftyWink
  • + 3
haha I didn't even look at the other bikes, had no idea there were any Canondales or leftys in the pic until I read the your comment
  • + 3
No way I could keep my hand there.
  • + 8
I thought these trails up by the gate are for hikers only? So basically this was filmed on location illegally to appeal to the masses? How Enduro!
  • + 3
 she's a "righty" (40% stiffer)
  • - 1
is she britney spears ??! hah
  • + 2
 ..
  • + 2
golden gate bridge. woman contorted on bars. cant tell if pretty or not. 3 guys smiling and laughing. IS THIS THE MESSAGE OF ENDURO?? this hurts my face.
  • + 3
Oh yeah, I feel my enduro rising….
  • + 2
 She makes me wanna ride!
  • + 3
We should have provided a caption with the photo of the lady in an evening grown on Kyle Warner’s handlebars. As Kyle, Marco and Ben waited to drop in on the last run of the day, a photographer taking photos of a woman nearby proposed that she sit on the biker’s handle bars. The randomness and hilarity of the situation is what photographer Dennis Yuroshek was trying to capture with this photo.
  • + 4
No explanation needed, this is pinkbike and this the beauty of the comments section/props.
  • + 53
I like enduro, and even the phrase "enduro specific" doesn't bother me....whew, coming out of that closet feels good
  • + 19
 Did you buy your sash?
  • + 31
The enduro-specific movie I've been craving!
  • + 40
 seen this one?...............

www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMB2UTTw96I

pretty cool too..............
  • + 47
I'm gonna watch it with goggles on

hahahaha...that was a great one stacykohut!..."put me down for the Titan desert"...hahahahha
  • + 2
All those who still ride 26", please leave the room. Ha! That video's awesome!

This one's not half bad either, but it really bugs me when someone is talking to the audience and looking off camera!
  • + 1
 Thats great!
  • + 21
and i wouldnt take any of these comments personal guys, fact is we all like to poke fun at enduro but we all love the shit out of it an will all most likley watch this when it comes out and dig it.
  • - 1
nope. zero interest. less than that
  • + 22
mtn biking is turning trendy... i'm gonna go ride my chumba over some skinnies, and wear blue jeans while i do it... maybe i'll even build a teeter totter.
  • + 2
Moth, dont forget ur modified crew cut-comb over haircut, and if its cold(or not), wear a beenie, but only on the back of ur head so it looks like foreskin!
  • + 18
I didn't see a lot of enduro there.... Looked like a lot of mountain biking on short travel bikes to me....
  • + 1
but MTB, not as exciting as enduro
  • + 1
i don't care what bike your on... riding moto sized woops into a berm is gnar..... if you're doing it on a 5 inch bike then even more gnar points.... The fact that they all got sponz0rz hook ups on "enduro" gear doesn't take away from their gnar points to me. but it does make me wonder if they are that good why did they need the enduro platform to get their names out there?
  • + 1
The same reason any person needs any platform in their sport to get themselves recognised for their ability. The marketing side of it is a bit OTT at times but that's the reality we live in these days.

The 'Enduro' competitive level is a good thing for the sport though (imho), its good to see some epic racing which can span a mountain range.
  • + 4
Those are not moto sized whoops. And there were, what, 7 in a row. Big freaking deal. This vid fails.
  • + 17
 Lefty owners have friends?
  • + 39
 Other lefty owners
  • + 27
lefty fork stanchions don't even have friends. lol
  • + 1
 But no ladies!
  • + 6
Moth423 - that's the funniest come back I've heard all year!
  • + 0
Yeah if you own a lefty you get no girls...Picture proves all.

I'd be scared seen someone going hardcore on a lefty in a video and the hub/wheel like flexs...Scary
  • + 7
GiraffeInPurple you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
  • + 0
I was kidding about the girl thing...

but yes on a lefty the wheel has a lil flex I seen it in a video when someone pointed it on it goes on an angle like this /...

Since I don't know what i'm talking about.... People.... So funny.
  • + 3
Kinda weird that the only leg the girl has is the right one.... Righty?
  • + 3
Sweet Jesus I didn't even notice that.
  • + 1
using a lefty just made it more XC..............
  • + 7
Bookmarked this page purely for the comments haha.

Enduro is a term created because marketing knows that anything "new" is going to sell. Freeride is an age old term - enduro is new! exciting! exclusive!... and expensive. [Companies lol-ing all the way to the bank.]

Been doing this kind of stuff on bikes even before i heard of pinkbike, downhill, or even really knew that mountain biking was a 'thing'.
  • - 1
 the endurofad soon to pass
  • + 1
 Definitely man
  • + 11
 *checks calendar*
*not April 1st*
  • + 5
"The Rise of Enduro" = Mountain biking is still here.
  • + 1
 Yuup
  • + 5
not one person talking crap about him snapping his frame off a 6ft drop?? weird..

looks like it will be a pretty sweet movie....kinda strange to release the behind the scenes showing the outtakes before the film though..
  • + 8
Fuck yeah Warner! Shredding the gnar!!!
  • + 4
ok this movie is gonna be sick i love to watch my buddies shred it up..but hey mtb industry ENDURO is and has been a moto format of racing for 20 plus years...all you have done is copy that and made a whole new marketing scheme up...in 2008 this was just all mountain riding or super-d now we call it enduro................
  • + 3
the moto format is actually gnarly
  • + 1
yeah it is but it is the same format of racing with special stages and transition stages, but in moto if you are early to your next special stage you get penalized..
  • + 4
What is enduro about this vid? Looks like all the same stuff me and my friends have been doing for years. Not trying to knock it, just hope the full vid has a real focus. Also, those are moto STYLE whoops, not moto sized like someone mentioned. Most moto whoops would swallow even a 29" wheel.
  • + 3
I was hoping that a film with a title like that might focus on actual enduro competitions, but this was just dudes hanging out and riding. Which is fine, but doesn't have anything to do with enduro racing!
  • + 2
Ya i'm really confused at this point. This seems like it should be called rise of mountain biking..... I was really expecting this to be a more in depth explanation of the enduro format and where the sport is going, this is just like every other edit guys hanging out shreddin trails and drinkin some beers....
  • + 3
Yea when people say 'enduro' I think of the racing and the specific format of that racing. If you are not actually racing, then isn't it just, like you said, mounatin biking?
  • + 2
Yeah, WTF?! Fair enough, the new discipline of racing needed a name, but to call what these guys are doing 'enduro'... they're just f*kin riding their bikes!
Even Wikipedia knows what Enduro is: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enduro
  • + 5
where are the female enduro racers? it's disappointing to see that the only woman featured in this clip is draped over someone else's bike and wearing a low cut dress.
  • + 1
 Agreed
  • + 6
Getting wasted, playing with rifles, burning sh*t--they need to resurrect Palmer for a cameo. This movie is going to own.
  • + 5
Palmer is legendary and therefore eternal no resurrecting needed. He is alive and well. But maybe they should bring him on board, personally I'm a little tired of how cookie cutter and polished the image of most pros are presented these days. The sport could use a few more guys and girls like Palmer!
  • + 3
i think breaking a marin frame is more then just a mechanical. i still think that "enduro" is still just good ol mountain biking. i guess to be technical you aren't wearing a skin suit like XC guys. thanks for showing the guns Smile I which CA was a better gun state to live in.
  • + 5
Ridiculous. Enduro= riding through puddles, single track, jumps and RC cars. Stop the gimmicks lets call it mountain biking minus the RC cars.
  • + 3
The title should have been "the Marketing Rise of Enduro"! Everyone's been Mt. Biking for so long, the only difference is now is a European jargon copied from an motorcycle race! What's the difference between enduro and strava?
  • + 1
The difference is that enduro is a cover name for something good, Strava is evil wankery from the very root
  • + 0
Funny thing is by the time this video comes out in late 2014 the Enduro fad will be dead. Jokes on them.
  • + 2
People's kids these days. Whining and complaining makes you look weak. Pinkbike is so tiring these days with all the crybabies. Grab your little sack and keep quiet. Disclaimer: If you have no sack, you probably are not on here whining anyway, as the women here are surely tougher than the baby complainers.
  • + 3
We were doing bike races in the endure format since the eighties in New England. It's nice to see how the rest of the world has caught up. I'm curious if any of those races show up...
  • + 2
I went on an Enduro group ride the other day. I usually do some cross country to get into shape for the dh season. I have a turner 5-spot. should be able to handle it. I honestly couldnt tell what the fuck we where doing. I thought you climb you descent. nasty rock gardens on a smaller bike.. might be fun... nope. we climbed and when we got to the top we descended just a littleso we coul get on the pedals again. they whole ride was up up up.... it turns out i was already doing enduro when i thought i was doing cross country. I am so fucking confused.... again... at the bottom everyone high fived and said epic... i was expecting that.
  • + 5
The Tom Teller dude put some awesome edits out on last seasons oregon enduro. So awesome!
  • + 4
Tom is the man! Or should I say "the boy"? Super talented 20 year old right there!!
  • + 3
I hope a new world organization can take competitive mtb'ing into the future. We want to have fun not get bogged down with rules, politics and expense.
  • + 5
How is mark weir? Is he all healed up & ok?
  • + 4
Please show this at the next Marin County Open Space meeting so the council members' heads fucking explode with rage.
  • + 3
 haha, seriously
  • + 5
what trail is that - the one with golden gate bridge in the background...?
  • + 4
California redneckery at it's finest. This place is is hick as Texas once you leave the city........
  • + 5
stoked. gonna be a rad film! bikes!
  • + 4
this would have been a good april fools joke
  • + 2
That cover art is comedy gold!
  • + 4
Warner Cruz and Osborne! F yea
  • + 3
Enduro whatever....the bit at 4:50 and on for the next few seconds is pretty rad
  • + 2
tsk most of those trails arent legal fellas - would be interested to know where the edit at the end was filmed?
  • + 2
The coolest thing about mountain biking was an ace of spades in the spokes or a 'tip top' wedged in the seat stay.
  • + 3
hollllly fuck i need to get outside
  • + 3
I would get along quite well with Ben.
  • + 2
I feel like enduro is just a term downhillers use so they can wear their xc lids and minimal pads on dh tracks
  • + 0
all mountain doesnt have the appeal
  • + 1
so im afraid I not into this at all it just not that exciting its like really shit down hill. but i can see why some people might enjoy it.
  • + 4
 Much enduro.
  • + 2
 Such shred
  • - 1
No gloves check Useless wheelie in flat part of trail check Enduro goggles on half lid check All you need is the Stravadouche gps log, an exaggerated completely utterly useless lean to look rad, maybe fart noises whenever you enduro turn and brownpow a corner and your video will be complete
  • + 8
 Poor grammar, check.
  • + 4
 twin peaks, so nice
  • + 2
I dont think this movie is enduro enough Big Grin

Anyway, looks pretty nice so far
  • + 2
Machine Gun in MTB vid' : I hate ENDURO !!!
  • + 4
That's not enduro, that's America.... Didn't you see the flag obstructing the window?
  • + 1
Pretty sure machine gun implies full auto.
  • + 1
what has a large breasted woman in an evening gown got to do with mountain biking?
  • + 3
 Tricks for tits...
  • + 7
not much but I ain't complaining...
  • + 0
 maybe if she was naked
  • + 3
She only has one leg. Give her a break.
  • + 2
she has a leg like them forks, only the one, lol
  • + 1
Also the half-lids and goggles look ridiculous haha I don't care how good you are....
  • + 4
 But it works...try it Smile
  • + 1
AKA : The Rebranding/marketing of all mountain biking. Cause super sexy racing times.
  • + 3
Seen from your side off the atlantic may be. I've heard about Enduro years before some bikes were coined "all mountain" over here. And those am bines used to be around 5" travel when 6" was already the norm on enduro race courses.
  • + 1
must have been a tough climb if a 1 legged girl hiked up there in a dress and high heel
  • + 1
Light weight bikes for light weight riders. Ill stick to Free Ride. It just feels better.
  • + 1
And to think those smith helmets are ugly! If it can attract women like that, then I'm getting one right now!
  • + 1
I thought this was total mountain riding.
  • + 1
was there riding in this vid?
  • + 1
You could be riding your bike instead!
  • + 0
Everyone knows mountain biking emerged from the woom of Crested Butte not Marin
  • + 1
Not every one knows that the first bikes made for off road with deraileurs on them came from crested butte, some do though.
  • + 0
Yeah how was that missed. I have been scrolling down the comments looking for something about that cracked Cannondale. Damn.
  • + 1
Check your sag Warner. 25% with a woman on the bars is just to stiff.
  • + 2
 what? what? what?
  • + 1
thats not an ar-15, pretty sure its chambered 7.62mm so maybe a M762A1?
  • - 1
looked kinda like .223 or 7.62, hard to tell
  • + 2
you sir, be so wrong nananana, 5.56/223
  • + 1
 lol
  • - 1
If it was the larger caliber it would be the civi AR10 leo/military uses the SR25.
  • + 0
i think its about 308 platform ar (armalite=ar10, dpms=lr-308, ruger=sr25, nothing is milspec'ed yet). i know people that have some, not really a big deal, just more expensive to shoot. most cops i ask/know just use a 223/5.56
  • + 1
SR25 is the military designation and usually is made my Knights Armament. Also .223 SAMI and 5.56 NATO are not the same and if you shoot 5.56 NATO in a .223 SAMI rifle you run the risk of and exploded chamber.
  • + 2
i see, mixed up all those sr ruger has with stoner rifle
  • + 2
 Sic as Love u Enduro!
  • + 2
 de puta madre!!! nice!
  • + 1
this is so confusing... wtf is the angle here guys?
  • - 1
 Isn't it obvious?
1. Enduro.
2. ???
3. Profit.
  • + 1
 that was shit
  • + 0
lol they deleted the comment on gun control
  • + 0
What a fucking useless promo vid. I want those 8 minutes back.
  • + 0
agreed. can only prop you once though. the euros are like "wtf?"
  • + 0
The Comments on this one are bout to be Priceless Off the Walls!!!!!
  • - 1
can't wait for the entertainment to begin........ making popcorn as i type................... 3,2,1,..................... comedy .........now.
  • + 0
Am I able to enduro without blue or green clothes?
  • - 3
sick, but wasn't the AR-15 unfortunately banned in California?
  • + 0
its not banned, just some restrictions. you could buy a new one there any day of the week
  • - 4
flag ctmtb98 (May 7, 2014 at 19:46) (Below Threshold)
Oh yeah, they're illegal here in CT, sucks...
Looks like you had to register so called "assault rifles" a few years ago in CA, but now it is illegal to purchase guns like the AR-15.
  • - 1
i blame the media, and stupid people
  • + 0
 As long as it's semi-auto w/ a10round clip...and registered...it's legal...heck you can even apply for a concealed carry!
  • + 1
the only registered "assault" ones (preban) shouldnt need a fixed mag, and if you had one before the ban, you probably had over 10 mags. all new guns are registered in ca, but ar15s now need a fixed (bullet button), or no "evil features"
  • + 3
Re-registering a weapon violates prior restraint. Any magazine that has one part that is pre-ban goes through the loop-hole. I will be doing my ccw soon. Keep in mind that proving a long gun pre or post ban is impossible if it was purchased before this year. CA law didn't require long gun records to be treated like hand gun records until 2014 so all pre ban long guns technically don't exist on paper. Unenforceable, small minded, ignorant, illegal legislation violating constitutional law.
  • + 1
 @sbrdude1 yep agreed.
  • + 1
 Don't forget private party transfers.
  • + 1
Good thing you can't be mad during an ENDURO event! Wait, that would it be called ENDURO-RAGE?
  • - 1
 mehh
  • - 1
 i dont get it
  • - 3
Lots of slow riding in teletubby land. Enduro is just vintage freeride repackaged. Boringtrendstersstuff
  • - 2
i tried to prop you back up. i agree whats the point of a video that shoes relatively average riding on average trails.
  • - 2
I refuse to say anything about the Cannondale frame cracking. Oops.
  • + 3
hahah yeah i was surprised they even put that part in...wouldnt cannondale be pissed? i know ben breaks cannondales left and right but he doesnt put videos up about them..
  • + 2
 #Cracknfail ... what?
  • + 2
I was a little surprised they put that in there as well. I guess that's meant to steer you towards another prolific American brand based in so cal?
  • + 1
It's a vid sponsored by Marin, so I'm not surprised. Maybe then want Ben to join the Marin team?
  • - 1
I thought that was pretty weird, too. I remember breaking a frame and calling my rep at the manufacturer and the first thing he said was "please don't take any pictures of it".
  • - 2
the real question... is she enduro specific?
