PRESS RELEASE: Sensus

THE MEATY PAW
bigquotesThis idea all started over a decade ago racing World Cups. I had run the same grip style my whole life because I thought that was the only option. I was having trouble holding on while riding the long tracks in Europe. My mechanic at the time and long time homie @baileyslife_ suggested my grips were too small for my hand size. After some convincing from him, a whole roll of electrical tape, and some OG slide on Swayzes later, we came up with the Meaty Paw. After two laps my knuckles and hands had no more pain. I felt as if I was holding onto something made from Zeus himself. I realized at that moment I’d been doing it wrong the whole time. With the bigger diameter grip I could hold on much better and it even took out a lot of the small bump vibrations. Since then I’ve done a lot of testing with all sizes of hands on the Meaty Paws and found that not only people with big hands have an advantage, people that don’t ride as much or people coming back from hand/wrist injuries also benefited from the Meaty Paws. The simple fact that there is more rubber to the grip takes away a ton of the vibration from whatever you are ripping through. Thank you Sensus for making this a reality and for the rest of you, you are welcome.Kyle Strait, Freeride Legend

bigquotesWe wanted to make Kyle the grip of his dreams sparing no expense in modern science. By combining our thinnest interior sleeve with an oversized diameter, we achieved a grip that not only dampens small bumps but provides superior grip. Using the softest rubber ever used by our American factory has allowed for supple grips, while maintaining a quality that outlasts the competition. With a need for oversized grips in every discipline from XC Foamiez to DH Double-Wrapped, this was a no brainer.SENSUS

I'm surprised Kyle Strait uses grips, I thought he was no-hander full time.

 @PocoBoho: f*ck that guy

@Purpledragonslayer: Aggressive comment but it's probably justified regardless. Reno is still terrible, though Wink

@BEERandSPOKES: Those aren't as thick as the Sensus. They look good tho!

Gum with ITSKASHIMABRO collars with Diety bronze stem and bar it's the Bronze Age

@BEERandSPOKES: They aren't wider... And they aren't thicker... And they are definitely not cooler

Mainly I'm just waiting for you guys to release the matching size snap Koozie for 24oz cans. Big Grips need Big Hands, Big Hands Need Big Cans!!!
  • 29 3
It's easy to see what Rachel sees in him.
  • 56 2
 you mean the big...hands?
  • 3 2
@ReformedRoadie: When he grabs something, he has an excellent grip

Transition needs to step up their game, that video was hilarious!

at 0:14 did he say, "beautiful, badass, booby titty?" ?!?! hahaha! I'm dyin' over here, haha!!

My 2 cents: I have the biggest hands from all the people i know, and after some back and forth testing I've settled on thing grips. It feels like my hand wraps the grip much better and it feels more secure when things get rough. Also the hand pain has lessened a lot probably due to a fact that it takes less power to just hold the grip securely.

This is all subjective, but what I'm trying to say is, that having big hands doesn't mean liking thick grips.

But I like my thick grips because of my big hands so who's correct?
  • 7 3
@Tmackstab: both ;-) try it and decide for yourself.
  • 3 0
I don't have terribly big hands, but I can't get enough of thick grips. The Ergon fats, thick deathgrips and Chromag Squarewave XLs have been my go tos for a while, but I might try these.
  • 2 0
@Tmackstab: I just got some of these. So far so good.
  • 5 0
Maybe your hands are still not big enough for these? When I grab a hold of any set of grips that exist now, I have so much extra area on my hand that my calluses end up getting folded and pressured causing a lot of pain. I frequently have to cut them down with nail clippers, having a grip that actually has enough surface area for the amount of skin I have will be a game changer.
  • 1 0
@ratedgg13: I started with odi Rogue/LS North shore, then ergon ge1, ga2 normal and fat. But the big difference came with the sqlabs 70X. There is meat and grip where needed
  • 2 0
@jtm12090: or I just have meaty paws and all the stuff needs to go somewhere.. Big Grin
  • 2 0
It's nice to have more options on thick grips . I'm in the opposite side, I have the e smallest hands from all the people I know ( girls included) and prefer by far the thick grips , sometimes I even use it with thick gloves. As you said it it is about of preference .
  • 5 0
@alexsin: Partly because of nostalgia and partly because they just seem to work for me but I love Oury grips.
  • 1 0
@LuisCR: Had Rogues on my first RM7, still have Rouges today on my rig. Tried others, always come back
  • 2 0
Yup, all depends on what you're used to gripping I guess. I prefer thick grips...
  • 3 0
@ratedgg13: Ever tried good ol' Oury? I've tried a whole lotta grips and push-on Ourys are my favourite by far.
  • 1 0
@krashDH85: Tried and hated almost every 'thicker' grip on the market. Never tried Rouges.
I'll give them a try after I'm done with Lizard Skins (good but still not perfect).
  • 3 0
Ive been running the OG style of a Swayze single ply over a lite for a couple years now. Definitely came to enjoy a larger grip, and the Meaty Paw is definitely meaty, probably the thickest grip on the market by a country mile. And yes, they are bigger in person Wink

 It..just...keeps...going. Big Grin
  • 4 0
Best grip marketing that I have ever seen....think I'm gonna pull the trigger on these and get'er done.....yeee haww....ride!

Who would have thought Kyle BBQing grips would be better than Christopher Walken talking about some guy named Jeff?
  • 1 0
I just received my grips yesterday and was somewhat surprised that they weren't that wide. So I took my caliper to them and sure enough they're not even close to being 1,5 inches (38 mm). I measured them to just 34 mm which is quite a huge gap from the claimed diameter.
  • 5 0
 Gotta love a small flange.
  • 1 0
I've had struggle finding some thicker size grips for years. Stumbled onto some Raceface Strafe 33mm diameter (made by ODI) that works really well when running gloves but ain't to comfy without. Might give these new sensus a try!
  • 2 0
Tell you what ,respect Kyle, having that sense of humor it’s not for everyone, what a laugh you must had ,I’m impress, congratulations I might even gonna buy some ,what a laugh

I want the brown ones! How soon can I annoy my local shop top stock these.
  • 24 0

@EeehhZink: But Ray sits on couches upside down...

Ray sold me my first DH bike with your bro, and my first sensus grips. Make that guy take an extra shot and slap his ass for Logan.

If he likes it too much, sorry man that's on you. You'll be in the room and I won't, but I will owe you some Glenfidditch.

I don't get the thin grip thing. Tried it to see what I was missing - no go. Always been an Oury fan. Never got arm pump, even with others who are getting it bad.
  • 2 0
Next years superbowl ad please! It doesn't even have to be on the same channel! I'm sure a 4.5 minute ad would be a bill only a MEATY PAW could handle!
  • 4 0
I can't explain why I want these, but I do.
  • 2 0
Nice vid, typically use esi extra chunky, however the last not very long, will give a shoot for this one, hope you can ride them without gloves
  • 1 0
 No gloves all day!
  • 1 0
Esi x chunky is the biggest I've found, so underrated. Probably the lightest grip around too.
  • 4 1
Hahaha that little jab at Deathgrips

I have a pair and I absolutely love them, takes all the chatter out of your hands!
  • 2 0
I only want these because of the marketing and yet this knowledge does not diminish my want for them.
  • 3 0
Man I need to see an outtakes video of that.

 This IS the outtakes video
  • 3 0
 That was actually amazing.

6 foot grip? damn that's big!

That's pretty much the best mtb advert ever. What a legend
  • 3 1
why does he need grips if his hands are barely on the bar anyway !!!
  • 2 0
should be top comment. well done.
  • 4 1
 You had me at 1.5'
  • 4 1
 Banana hands here. Sold.
  • 2 0
large grip... one clamp ? i guess one clamp standard now on most ?
  • 3 0
Instead of lost end caps it's punching holes in the end of your grip and glueing them back together with a little shoe goo. I prefer the comfort of not having that outboard lockring, but I do generally grip the outer end of the bar.
  • 3 1
I don’t like thick grips, but I wholeheartedly support this ad campaign.
  • 2 4
It's a funny video, and I get that they're advertising these grips as helping you to do worse in school, but did Sensus really mean to shout "Starz and Barz"?

It's a funny video, but the Sensus marketing people should know that "starz and barz" are not another way of saying "stars and stripes"; it's the name of one of the confederate flags.

(In case this seems like a duplicate: I tried to post about this earlier, but it's just showing a blank post on my computer.)

might try 'em. I really liked the elmonte slim style promo????

 Itskashimabro colorway sounds meaty!

  • 2 2
thank god. i got a pair of big ole' d!ck beaters, and even the bigger grips currently on the market would start to hurt.

Girth is great, beer is good, people are crazy.
