Troy Lee Designs A2 Helmet - First Look
As much as I like my orange A1, I ride in Thailand, and with temperatures above 30 C most of the time, the helmet is pretty hot. I replaced a Kali Maraka with the A1, and the Kali fit me better and was way cooler. I'm waiting to buy the Kali Interceptor which is due to hit stores anytime now. It is supposed to have the same fit as the Maraka, and uses Kali's non-MIPS protection that supposedly helped Nicholai Rogatkin survive his Rampage fall without concussion.

What Did You Get For Christmas?
An orange Evil The Following with Shimano Di2 and DVO Diamond Fork. I bought the frame in June, but it took a while to collect all the components. That it was ready on Christmas Day was kind of a coincidence, but I'm glad the wait is over. http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p6pb14265307/p5pb14265307.jpg

Anne-Caroline Chausson's Ibis HD3 - EWS Round 6, Whistler
Interesting that ACC is using Formula RO brakes, and she has no obligation to use them. A lot of people in various forums diss Formula brakes, saying they have no modulation, are noisy, and so on, but I've been using a set of R1's for 3 years, and if they're set up right, they are excellent. I bleed and set up my own brakes, and found that using one of those $3.00 caliper/disc spacers before positioning the calipers makes all the difference in the world, giving good modulation and no noise.

September: Good Month or Bad Month?
It's a good month for T-Mo's competition (go Anneke!) because she announced her retirement. So far this year, we've seen retirements of Bernat and Emmeline from DH, T-Mo and Fabien from EWS, and I wouldn't be surprised if ACC packed it in after her health issues this year.

Rider Perspective: What do you choose: Dual Suspension or Hardtail?
There is full suspension with bearings and pivots, and then there's Catharine's super stiff race-grade carbon Orbea Oiz, which has no pivots, but does have a metal rod bearing point at the bottom of the seat stay. With her shock mounted in front of the seat stay, the bike behaves like a hardtail when she locks it out. This is not a comfortable bike by any means, and the sag is only 15%, but that's enough to keep the rear wheel digging into the ground on a climb when the shock is active. http://www.bikerumor.com/2015/06/04/world-cup-xc-pro-bike-check-rainbow-orbea-oiz-of-world-champion-catharine-pendrel/
