Once the trails had dried a little from some much needed rain, Hudson Tognetti, Owen O'Malley, and Keith Morelan headed out to get some runs in on the loamiest trails around. The downhill trails in the area are great for building confidence, as nearly unlimited traction makes it easier to push our boundaries and corner better and faster. Better cornering allows you to carry more speed in and out of sections, and overall will help you become a faster rider and chip seconds off the clock. After a winter of training paired with hundreds of laps cornering harder and riding faster, we will be headed out to some great races that the NW Cup, Angelfire, Mammoth, and many other great resorts and race organizations offer, so that we can grab that top step! Sure putting in the base miles on the trail bike is important, but at the end of the day we are downhill racers. And we like to go fast.

Two inches from the dirt is a great place to be

Sea Otter and stop 1 of the US ProGRT are right around the corner, but there's still room for more training and fun laps with friends. Stay tuned for more THR shenanigans to come in the last episode before the race season kicks in!

Trail Head Racing would like to give a huge thanks to A Little 4 A Lot, Five Ten, Industry 9, RaceFace, Specialized, SRAM, Trail Head Cyclery, and Troy Lee Designs for helping us have fun, go faster, and work our way towards the top of the podium.

See you out on the trails.

I kinda get sick of people whining about the whole building/ maintenance thing. There are plenty of people who love building, almost more than riding i would say.And then you have the opposite...it takes all types. I like to shape berms with my back tire...

The real question is, how much time does the Trail Head Racing Team spend driving over the hill to ride and film, versus building on said trails they're exploiting for views.

*waits for the down votes*

That's a completely valid concern. I'm a part of the team, but personally have only spent two days helping with digging out there. I know others on the team have spent many more days over the years out there putting shovel hours in on said trails. This past month, our team helped out with dig days on the Soquel Flow trail, and our team and I have built many of the trails along the peninsula. Personally I don't like building on other people's trails unless they are they and tell me what to do. It's their creation not mine and I don't want to make any changes they don't want. If you want to set up a build day, I'm sure many team mates would be down. I'm currently in school out in Colorado, but I'll throw shovel some dirt over my spring break if you want. The area is losing some great trails and we need to make new ones and upkeep the existing ones.

I live an hour and a half away from said trails without traffic, which is why I've spent less time working on these trails versus trails farther north

This is definitely a great point to bring up! As the manager of the team i can honestly say that all of my guys have put in their fair share of building time. In fact the majority of the riding we do as a team is on trails we have built our selves. Aside from the last few videos we have done, the vast majority of the trails we ride are self built or have seen a big share of our own work. Although we have been focusing on Santa Cruz for these last videos, it is hardly the primary location that we ride, but it is for sure one of the best!
