Press Release: Trans Varaita Bike

We are proud to announce the 5th edition of the Trans Varaita Bike, powered by Conway, that will take place from 24th to 27th August 2023, in the even magical Varaita Valley, in north-west of Italy at the foot of Monviso.
The adventure of pedalling on different trails each day, founding all the type of terrains, from the summer heat to the first snowflake. A challenge to remember, a different way to try the local cuisine, enjoy the landscape and trails that make the Varaita Valley a must-see destination in all seasons!

In the past editions, we had the pleasure to welcome 250 riders from 15 different countries and for the 85% of them it was the first – and for sure not the last – time in the paradise at the feet of the “Stone King”, his majesty the Monviso.

In 2023 the race will continue to explore the best spot of the valley, riding more than 150km in 10 PS. The adventure, from the lower part of the valley, until the border with France, will be characterized by all the types of trails you can dream, from pine woods to high wide alpine fields. That means that riders must change and adapt their riding technique each day and each stage.

What kind of trails do you prefer? Steep? Fun? Flow? Technical? Fast and wide? Dusty or mud? YOU are really lucky! We have all of these!

We continue to work side by side with the local activities, the governs and land owners, because this event is proving year by year the importance of mountain biking for our territory and local economy. Our mission is to develop new trails, giving a new life to paths that were used by our ancestries, in order to allow to a lot people to have fun on them.

Our goal is also to create a project to maintain in good condition the trails that TVB’s riders define as “the best trails of their life”, like “VaccheRoba” o “Terziere”!

Paddock life

Looking at hundreds smiling face at the end of each day means that we are on the right road!

During the winter, when snow covers trails, the TVB organization and other partners work hard to get noticed by local businesses, to explain them how much special our valley is for mountain biking. Our teams are on the ground to make sure that trails are kept clean. Participating in this event means contributing directly to the maintenance of our trail network.

The partnership with 4Guimp has enabled to start collaborations with some of the most important brands of the bike world. Also this year, in addition to local brands, Dainese – Muc-off – Urge – Dyedbro ed Evoc will help us. From the collaboration with our technical partners a new project, shared with 4 Guimp, is born: since a few days it’s possible to book your relaxing holiday! If you want to visit the Varaita Valley riding some trails of past editions and try satisfying climbing on panoramic trails pedalling on your e-bike, you have to visit the new website of 4Guimp Travel and book an unforgettable experience!

How long are the 'PS's'? Only 10 in 150km over 4 days doesn't seem like many.

2022 edition had 2 days with one alpine stage each which were up to 15 minutes long and 2 "enduro" days which had 3 stages each, 2 to 6 minutes long.

@BergamascoPlanante: That was all? And what happened the rest of the day?
  • 3 0
@JohSch: Lots of climbing (there were just 2 lift assisted transfers over 4 days, 1000mt of ascent combined), lots of kms on the bike, under the bike, pushing the bike, ...
And lots of beers and Braulio to recover

 How much is the entry?
  • 2 0
400 EUR... it was 250/280 EUR last year which was a fair price for the event. I cannot see why they did 60% price increase, I'm struggling to justify the reasons to come back for 2023 edition with such a price Frown
