PRESS RELEASE: Transition Women’s Weekend

East Burke, VT is a mecca for mountain biking in the Northeast with a great variety of trails right in town. This event, hosted by Vermont MTB Tours and Radical Roots MTB Instruction, will be utilizing the legendary Kingdom Trails network as well as lift-served Burke Mountain Bike Park to progress skills and delight the participants.

Women s Weekend East

Built from the momentum and success of the popular Transition Women’s Weekend (West) in Bellingham, WA we couldn’t resist bringing this #partyinthewoods out East. Professional coaches Angi Weston, Shanna Powell, Ella McAndrew, and Christsonthy Drellos lead the mega-progression-sessions for riders of all levels, interests, and abilities.

This is a small group clinic with loads of opportunity to learn, meet new friends, and ride world class trails. The weekend will kick-off with a casual meet-and-greet at Vermont MTB Tours headquarters on Friday night so students and coaches can get a chance to mingle with drinks and appetizers provided. Transition Bikes will have a full demo fleet of bikes on site for the weekend for any interested participants to demo for free. On Saturday and Sunday we will split into groups for a student to coach ratio of 7:1 and we’ll spend 6-7 hours working on skills on the bike each day. All groups will hit the trails for practical application and countless high-fives each day too. On Saturday night we are offering a unique, healthy, locally-sourced, family-style dining experience for the participants. In this private party, participants can relive the excitement and fun from day one over a delicious meal prepared and served by professional chef (and fellow mountain biker), Jason Michaelides.

Women s Weekend East

Regardless if your goals for the weekend are to learn the basics of mountain biking or learn how to catch more air and ride faster - our coaches tailor the lessons to your goals in a fun and safe environment. With all the added perks like free demos, delicious meals, meet-and-greet party, lodging and spa discounts, there really isn’t any other event like it (aside from our other event in Bellingham). Each student will also receive a ton of “homework” and a skills recap and study guide sheet to help them continue to progress well beyond the weekend. It’s our hope that you will meet new friends, improve your riding skills, and fall in love with Vermont, like we are, so that you return often.

“This event exceeded all of my expectations. I am a super huge introvert, so it was hard for me to get out here but I’m so glad I did. I feel like I learned so much and I have so much more confidence. I think all women who are interested in biking should do this clinic at least once. I’ll definitely be back for another shred-tastic time.” -Anonymous WW Participant

Now with the weekend underway – it’s time to Giddy Up!

Women s Weekend East
“Being a part of the Transition Women's Weekend and coaching alongside Angi Weston of Radical Roots MTB was an absolute privilege and hilariously fun time! The entire weekend could not have gone smoother and every single lady that participated had a great time while progressing on and off the bike and having a ton of fun while doing so. This was something special to be a part of and I hope to be there for more events in the future.” – Christina Chappetta (WW Coach)

Women s Weekend East
Starting students in a low consequence setting with the use of fun stunts and awesome obstacles, the students get to practice the timing and execution of many technical mountain biking skills before trying them out on the trails. “The event itself was so well organized and the meals were perfection, but it was the coaching and progressions that blew my mind.” – Christy (WW participant)

Women s Weekend East
Practicing the art of proper bailing will undoubtedly raise your confidence to try new things.

Women s Weekend East
There is so much to learn when it comes to mountain biking so Coaches Angi and Christina teach an optional lesson in suspension tuning 101.

Women s Weekend East
Obviously, Transition loves seeing people stoked on mountain bikes.

Women s Weekend East
No shortage of high-fives shared. The stoke of progressing your skills is something each participant felt. “This clinic was a complete game changer! I can’t wait to apply these new skills and I look forward to more clinics with Radical Roots MTB!” – Angie (WW participant)

Women s Weekend East
Professional plant-based Chef, Christine Green with Simply Plantz, spoiled the participants with a healthy and delicious meal after a long day of learning and progressing.

Coach Angi holds participant, Linda, in a static drill to help give her the feeling of being balanced so she can build muscle memory around it and then go off and find it on her own.

Women s Weekend East
“My favorite part of the weekend was seeing participants tackle “scary” sections of trail with ease and delight once they had learned and practiced the skills they needed. – Lisa (WW coach)

Women s Weekend East
The trails and features built on Galbraith Mountain are perfect for progressing and conquering fears. The stoke is real.

Women s Weekend East
“There is no greater example of Womxn supporting Womxn, than at one of Angi’s skills clinics. The progression of the students definitely thrives on it.” – Shae (WW assistant coach)

Women s Weekend East
“I really wanted to build skills applicable to the trails I ride, and this clinic really helped with that. I think the skills I learned will really help me have more fun and ride safely.” -Anonymous WW Participant
