I don't know how you're so certain... I think we need another 3-4 minutes of him hitting massive drops, transfers and jumps to really come to a conclusion...
Freeriders need their own Events like rampage.I'm working on another freeriding Event in Flaming Mountains,Gobi Desert,China.I hope all the Freeriders on the Planet Earth could come and do whatever they wanna do in Flaming Mountains.
I'd say stick him in Nine Knights & Fest & with shit like suicide to crankflips, maybe the Diamond series. More of that & less bars spinning all over the fvcking place!!!!
HOW FVCKING BIG WAS THAT FVCKING DROP?!!!! Time for a Red Bull helmet bud. Any bigger & it might be time for a parachute? Ô.o
I can't believe PB is 12 comments deep and nobody bitched about the music. This is like a proud mom moment for me, I fully expected at least 10 intoxicated heshers to crawl out of their chevy sliding door van demanding more slayer
Lol first time I watched the video I was listening to Judas Priest but after this comment I re watched it and it was still awesome so I'm undecided hahah
Reebock-wearing, mulleted person in acid-washed jeans and a Judas Priest T-shirt who, at the age of 28, still lives in his/her parents' basement and swears that he/she can really rock out on his/her Ibanez Stratocaster copy guitar and probably owns a Nova that hasn't run in 5 years but you just wait, that f*cker is gonna smoke those f*ckin Japanese rice burners once I put a new head gasket on it.
He has an uber-solid bike sponsor in Knolly, but as pointed out, that's a recent thing. I am sure he is up to the Doefling and Buehler level if Knolly has signed him as a marquee rider. They love thems the big mountain freeriders!
Met Connor on the street during his University days, stood and talked for a good 40 minutes, humblest of guys. He deserves everything, give him a chance to show the world what he's really made of !!
That transfer canyon thing and the suicide to crankflip were some of the coolest things I've seen so far this year. Would love to see this guy bring his creativity to rampage.
He's from the deep south island of New Zealand and apart from ripping on the bike always volunteers his time to the Queenstown Mountainbike club and is a trail building machine. All round good guy so lets get him in
Much like every bicycle out there looks like a session, I swore he was riding in Kamloops. I saw (what I thought) was the pulp mill stack and spent 5 minutes trying to figure out where he was (and why the wind was blowing the wrong direction!)
He's the Kiwi heir apparent to McGazza!! Not that McGazza's going anywhere but he generally spends a good amount of time each year healing whatever gnarly injury he's carrying.
Because it's part of the FMB World Tour. Guys on the tour need a chance to gain points. I agree it seems like an increasingly strange contest to have in the tour though. It's generally different bikes, differnt tricks, different layout, different skillsets etc. A bit like having a F1 racing stop include a Rally leg.
Well how about Lacondeguy? he's always going on about f*ck FMB and yet he FEST'ed rampage last year lol- I have a feeling Red Bull's got something to do with his entry- same goes for Aggy and Zink too so I think the FMB doesn't have enough hardcore shredders (too many tailwhipping park rats) so points doesn't really matter when you've established yourself as one of them to be invited for Rampage.
I think there are a few guys that fall into that category; Hopkins, Doerfling, Vander-steez, Robinson etc. would likely be others on that list. Riders with a good brand or past success in the event likely have an easy time getting in. I always kind of feel bad for some of the guys from the FMB tour, like Pilgrim a few years back riding it on his SS Soda with a 888 mounted on it and you could tell it just was't his thing. It's kind of a high consequence event to pressure riders into.
I wonder how they hit those big jumps and drops. I mean, you go a little bit too slow or do something wrong and you can basically end the season if not career. They do that for a living too. Do they just not care?
Hmmmm tough call
He defiantly shreds has some mad skills on the dirt jumps
But . The jump where a tad small for rampage standards
We need to see more big mountain style lines with flow and speed
This video was more of a slope style out in the desert
Should be compete at rampage yes !!!
Is he on the same level as some of the other riders no !!!
Rampage is a weired event and should be a stand alone contest apart from the fmb
And anyone with the balls should be allowed to throw down
Oh wait that was the old rampage set up .
Dude rips I wish him the best . He just needs to concentrate on bigger lines
But it's only a clip video
How can Pinkbike ask this question without a poll? I vote yes, wasn't it a wildcard a back in 2004 at whistler Cranksworx that blew everyone away. Paul Basagoitia was his name I think. Everyone loves an underdog.
Awesome Vid. Get that thar boy to Rampage!!! BTW that area looks great to ride. It looks like Earnscleugh near Alexandra. If not, where in Central Otago is it?
Not sure the video in its entirety was as convincing as everyone seems to think, BUT the opening drop was absolutely massive and the backflip where he nearly scrubed his helmet was rad.
I'd like to see him session one of the old rampage sites.
Don't get me wrong, the guy is a beast, just not sure this is a PUT HIM IN RAMPAGE caliber video...just one insignificant man's opinion.
Agreed. Show me those hits in one top-to-bottom run without crashes or multiple takes. I'm sure he's got the skills, but can he deliver in a comp under pressure when you only have two runs?
YES HE SHOULD! Why shouldn't he...... . That drop was pretty big...How big was it????? An that transfer hip was so dam sick! Let this dude in.......................
Ok first of all he is an amazing rider no dought. However I'm sure there are lots of amazing riders out there, but why should he be exempt from the qualifying rules and just be let in? Wade Simmons could probably enter and win however he didn't qualify so he isn't. I could see legit competitors getting upset if they just let anyone ride in any contest. Just my opinion. Bring on the negative props.
Im pretty sure he still has to qualify, he is not just being let into the finals. Its just that u need an invite to even get a chance to qualify. (not sure, but thats how i understand it)
I don't think he should go to Rampage. Yes, he sends it big but his drops, jumps, etc. are shaped to perfectly for the rough Rampage terrain. I don't think he has a big chance at Rampage.
i don't really know what you're talking about, his lines were insane, very comparable... huge drops, massive transfers, sniper landings, huge backflip variations...and the list goes on!!!
Gotta agree with Baylenc here. Go watch rampage highlights again, other than the initial drop there is nothing "rampage" caliber as far as size is concerned. This dude is sick don't get me wrong but rampage is a different level. For a relative unknown to get I would expect an edit with MASSIVE bangers.
Unless you know Conor, you don't know what he's capable of. He can ride anything you put in his way with ease. Rampage was made for him. And it feels like everyone's looking past the fact that the only other rider doing flat drop flips out there on a DH bike is Semenuk right now... Give him a chance and you'll be surprised by what comes out of it. So many dudes with no big bike experience/skill are let into rampage each year when the truely capable are left on the sidelines waiting for their turn.
But yes, I vote yes. Conor should make the cut. Because freeride.
this is what describe connor the best
I'd say stick him in Nine Knights & Fest & with shit like suicide to crankflips, maybe the Diamond series. More of that & less bars spinning all over the fvcking place!!!!

Ibanez Stratocaster.....
You mean Fender Stratocaster?
AND a Marzocchi - double f**k yeah!
Yes - Kid's got skills!
