Thanks for the two months heads up. If I start riding up the access road now, I'll be sure to make the start line with at least a half hour breather at the start line before the gun goes off. I would have been screwed otherwise...
Cheep as chips to do lad!!
Camp for free under the gondola, entry to local gym for showing etc is within the 100 Euro ish price. Just got to drive yourself there.
Cheapest week in the alps you'll find!
You can do it by train to Grenoble and then bus, but it's a pain in the ass to get the timing right! Cheap too... And +1 on the "most fun i've had on my bike"
No experience with pedal assist so I'm not sure, but if someone could get so much support to be able to ride the more level gletcher stuff or the uphilll after Alpe d'Huez at 25km/h, it would definitely give a competitive advantage or their own race category entirely. It kind of misses part of what this race is about though. It is not purely about the downhills. The uphills are tough, timed and as such definitely part of the all-round character of the race.
@Muckal: If there is a separate e-bike class, I see no problem. Still I'd actually be curious who clocks the fastest time. The winner of the of the unassisted class or some French legend by the name of Sabrina, Nico or Fabien on an e-bike.
f*ck off
Don’t fancy camping though
