The POVs may not do justice to the majesty of this place, but at least they don't come with a terrible soundtrack.

All this ebike hate at the mega is crazy. Ebikes have actually been racing in their own category for years. But now it just has a new name that resounds with more people (and the uphill in qualifying is a newer thing). ebikes are huge in France and you'll just sound like an idiot if you go there and start complaining about them. It would be like complaining about too much head on a beer in the Czech Republic

Anyone gone over from the States for this event? Looking for general info from people with experience on cost, logistics, package deals?

Fly into Geneva, you can get to Alpe D'huez by train to Grenoble and then a bus up to ADH to keep the costs down, otherwise the transfer is pretty steep. Renting a car is also an option if there's a few of you. I stayed in L'ours Blanc apartment hotel in the main village, like 200m from the DMC lift. Close to genaral amenities and riding/partying. Roughly 350 eur a week total for a small apartment that will fit 4. If your budget allows it, stay in ADH, there are slightly cheaper alternatives but they are further away in OZ, Allemond etc. Lift pass is included in the race price, which with all the addon insurances ends up around 100-120 eur.
That's the abridged version. Now go talk to your boss about some holiday time.....
ps: Also, visit the other riding destinations in the area, Les2Alpes is like across the valley and that's where the Mountain of hell race is held usually a week before the mega.

Sorry, but that video sucked for conveying the true brutality and chaos of this race.

Actual race start is at about 8:00.

Disappointed they didn’t get an aerial shot of Oton’s passing line where he got by about a half dozen riders to get into 2nd.

Trust me, if you have to do one race, it's this one: the organisation, the spirit and the courses are nearly perfect!
