Sendero Maya (Honduras) A Bike Festival

On February 4th Honduras will be hosting "Sendero Maya" the biggest mountain bike festival in Centra America. This is the third edition of the event which has shown massive attention from the Central American bike scene



Sendero Maya came as an idea of John Paul Lloyd in 2009. His vision was not to creat competition but to unite the Central American biker community in an international festival, where riders from rookies to pros can come together and create a sense of biking community among the different nationalities. The funds from the event are benefit local families, protecting La Tigra national park as well as international campaigns such as Operation Smile Honduras




Offering us a Word-Cup level Downhill and XC Track, Competitors from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Colombia and USA, have enjoyed the track in the last years. Some well known names have taken part in this event, as Chris Van Dine, and Marcelo Gutierrez among others, and this year Joey Schusler its going to be added to this list. This event is done all the years around this time (January-February) , during the off-season so Pro-Riders around the world can come and enjoy this event, without compromising their race calendar.




The DH Track offers us 3km of pure GOLD! an unstoppable berm sections, root gardens, rock gardens, huge jumps and much more... This track could easily be a WC track. So much work and dedication has gone into it that you can completely be sure that this will be one of the best time you will have on a bike. The XC track is a 75km bike-heaven, the track goes around some of the most impressive scenery I have ever seen, and its guaranteed to take until the last breath out of you. both tracks are impressive, and this event in my opinion is one of the best in the world, not just by the tracks them self, but also by the warmth that you will be received if you take part of it. And I can assure you you will be among friends.




This years event will be this coming 4th of february, and will kick off as 7am with XC (and a marathon race, this is a new concept so more people could take part in this event), followed by DH at 1pm. and after the race has finished, off kicks the post-event party!. If you haven't visited Honduras this could be your chance to come and enjoy, this incredible event.you can't loose this chance to come and join this incredible event.
